Remote Start Problem

Hi, I'm a new owner of a 2016 Accord with a question about the remote start. It seem as though if I've used the remote, for locking or unlocking, (or accidentally pushed one of those buttons) then the remote start function stops working for 10 minutes or so. Any advice on this would be much appreciated.
Thank you

Took me a while to get the hang of how it works. Try this. Lock doors with remote. Doesn't matter if they are already locked. Just click the lock button so you see the light in the drivers mirror flash. Then push and hold the start button until you see the mirror light flash again. Then release. It should start within a couple of seconds.

That's what I've been doing but it only works occasionally - like every few days

Be sure to press and hold the engine start within 5 seconds of pressing the door lock.

Are you getting any confirmation of the engine start request?

The flashing light sequence should be as follows;

1 flash - door lock
1 flash - engine start press and hold
3 flashes - engine start
3 flashes - engine start confirmation

If this does not work be certain to always start with the door lock press.

Thanks for the info. I always press lock first and always get a flash. However, the engine only starts about 10% of the time (with pressing and holding the hold button). Both key fobs have the same problem. When it does start, I get the flash sequence you mentioned. The salesman mentioned that the remote start is very finicky and I should double press lock before pressing hold. Unfortunately that only works occasionally as well. As it stands, this feature is completely unreliable. If no one else has experienced this, mine must be defective. But given the dealer's comments I suspect it is a widespread problem and an inferior product. Any comments appreciated.

Unfortunately, it sounds like another trip to the dealer is in order.

I have only used it less than a dozen times but it never has failed.

I would also make sure it's actually locking each and every time just to be sure it's not something inherent in remote reception.

Good luck and let us know how it works out.

Unhappy 2016 Touring - I got the same remote start problem

I got the same remote start problem as 'Tholley'. I bought the 2016 Touring 3 days back and I thought I must have been doing something incorrectly, but it seems like a problem with the remote. I'm trying this from a short range - 25 feet or so.

The door lock signal (single flash) comes all the time, but many a times the ignition does not kick-in when pressing-holding the engine button on the transmitter. It just never does. I have to leave it that way and try some time later, and randomly it may work or not.

If this was a transmitter battery issue, then most likely the door-lock signal would not come either. Another trip to the dealer

Mine only works if I am standing right next to the car.

However, I don't really need the feature so it is no big deal :-)

Hi,

I'm facing the same problem, I accord 2016 EX is not even a week old. Remote works occasionally. I took it to the dealer it worked fine there, so the dealer says he cannot fix it unless there is a REAL issue. But, when I tried next day, it failed. Please let me know the best solutions to this.

Thanks.

Some of you might try holding the fob against your chin when you're using it. Your body will act like an antenna, and maybe that'll help a bit.

Also note that the car will only run for 10 minutes after it has started unless it has been set again while the car is running!!

I have the same problem. I lock the car first and then try to restart the car by pressing the button but it doesn't work most of the time. Can someone tell me how it was fixed?
