2016 Accord LX-S Stereo install with Metra 99-7804

After owning a 2010 Accord LX-S with mostly all the equipment in my signature, decided to take a deal from the dealership for a new 2016 LX-S only to discover that the install was not going to be as easy as getting a plastic dash kit and installing my gear in the new car. Luckily Metra released this kit 3 month after the purchase since I was starting to lose hope of premium audio after coming back to the forum and reading the horrors of version 1.

The kit only comes in matte black and silver so far and my car is all matte and piano black so here comes my first install issue, solved by amazon and some vinyl wrap.

Original Dash Kit:

After Wrap:

Rest of the Kit:

Pocket I will definetedly not use:

Cable Kit:

iMid Interface:

HU Brackets:

Axxess ASWC-1 Interface and Update Kit

Preserving USB and AUX with Metra AX-USB-35EXT

The Capacitor: Boss CAP18

It might not be the best on the block or as good as building my own CAP network using super capacitor, but it makes the dimming lights problem disappear for good and the old one lasted 6 years even after one of the 25f super capacitors (6 total) blowing up last year.

The rest of the install will be making it here little by little as I'm making progress

Thanks for posting the detailed pictures. They really are worth 1,000 words... each. I've been following this kit for probably two years but have never seen all the parts clearly laid out.

Can't wait to see more details as your install progresses.

I'm guessing that this kit will work also on the 16 Sport Sedan?

As far as a reply from Metra support, it should work. It's basically the same as the 2015

What is that chip and those bundle of wires? Where did they come from?

The rest of the 99-7804B looks just like the old one. Could you scan and post the directions?

Are your climate controls piano black or ugly silver?

That chip is a FT232RL 5.5v FTDI USB to TTL Serial Adapter and the cables are regular 4 pin cables for the adapter. It will cost you $5 on Ebay and do the same updating functions the $50 Metra branded cable does. Unless you have the ASWC with micro usb already.

The instructions are available in the metra site as a PDF. My kit only included a small panflet on how to assemble the plastic parts.

Everything inside my car is matte and piano black. No silver at all. Even the headliner is black.

I feel like a complete newbie but what's that for? I just plugged in a micro USB cable into each unit to update the firmware.

That is for updating ASWC units with no micro USB like mine. If yours have micro USB, then you are good to go, but I'm recycling parts from the 2010 LX-S I traded back in March.

Oh ok. I'd suggest if you want to keep your phone controls use the PAC SWI-CP5 instead. The ASWC doesn't work.

Finished soldering all the cables and tining all wires going to the Amps. Power to the trunk is done, routed through the driver side fender. The rest of the cables will go through the passenger side. Will be posting the pics later.

Slow progress this weekend since all my effort was on passing a state exam for a certification. BTW, scored 88% on the test. Woohooo!

After reading the manuals and contacting Axxess, all I need to do is connect the Gray/Blue wire to a pin in the 16pin harness. Hope it works, since I don't know if the XAV-601BT will support it. In need of a new HU and Amps. Both manuals are in my Google Drive link in the first post if you want to double check. Push to talk is not supported by the Sony HU, that I know for sure.
