Hello all,
Just got an 04 Accord v6 from my roommate. It's got 128k on the clock so I figured amongst the tuneup I would change the timing belt. A little background on me: I've worked on a lot of cars since I was a kid, mostly chevy, a few saturns, and a ford here and there. Done a ton of timing chains, but a belt with the dual cams was a new one for me. Followed the instructions that came with it, (installed the belt counter clockwise, made sure all of my marks lined up, etc.)
I figured I would double-check and make sure that the belt was installed correctly, so I put my ratchet on the crank bolt and started rotating. Did what felt like 2 full rotations, and the timing marks on the cams and the crank lined up, however my marks on the belt did not. Now I figure as long as my timing marks line up every 720* of crank rotation, I'm good. But at some point the marks I made on the belt itself should line up again, no?
