Trunk won't open using driver trunk release hatch

I have searched the forums and was only able to find people that were having issues with both the gas tank release and trunk release. However, my gas tank release works (pushing down on the trunk/gas opens the gas lid). When attempting to pull up on the latch, the latch does not even move. I'm afraid to pull too hard because I don't want to mess anything up inside. My key can still open the trunk. Any idea on what the issue could be? I'm willing to remove the trunk/gas release plastic but don't know where the connections are. Any help will do. Thanks guys.

remove the assembly from the kick panel, it could be that it was removed once and reinstalled wrong. I reinstalled mine backward when i did some wiring and i couldnt open the trunk either. Remove the kick panel and see if anything is busted.

Is the key position on Unlock or Lock right now? If its on lock right now, and you can open your gas tank, that means it was reinstalled wrong. Worst case is the cable is disconnected or busted.

When the key is on lock, the gas tank doesn't open. So i think something is busted on the trunk part of the latch.

When you lock that with the key it only should stop the trunk from opening. It's a valet feature so others can use you car but the valet (grey) key will not unlock that or the glove compartment. Double check that it isn't locked & then get into removing panels to see what's going on.

Removing that panel around the lever is not gonna hurt anything. Worst case scenario, you break one or 2 of the plastic clips that hold it in place (like $2 each from Honda)

Sounds like its in the lock position. I lock my trunk everytime I get home. Just put your key in the slot next to the latch and unlock it.

I already did the whole lock/unlock thing. That's the first thing I made sure to do cause I didn't want to post up here and have it be a simple issue like that. I think you guys are right though, I'll probably have to open the latch up and see what up

Hey guys! So I was able to figure out what was wrong with my trunk latch. It seems that a little piece of plastic that grabs the locking mechanism when you lock the trunk was broken so it was not catching it when tryin to unlock. I just popped the cover off an used a screwdriver and moved the lockin mechanism out of the way manually. It works fine and I rarely use the valet key so I'm just goin to leave it unlocked. Maybe fix it if I ever sell the car.

I just fixed mine today. Turned out that little white plastic piece wasn't making good contact with the metal lock itself. after finagleing with the lock to get it in the correct position all the lock needs now is a slight nudge to the rear of the car to get the lock to work.
