A friend had me do the BF 2 step process (no WD) on his new Ciivc about a year ago, ever since then all he has done is wash it and throw some Wolfgang Spritz on it (which I gave him) . He washes about every 3 weeks at a wand type stall wash. I did get him to not use the wand soap....LOL..... After a year, his Crystal seal was still holding up, but we decided to meet at our local sports bar today for the Heat game and I told him we could do a quick rejuvenation if he would buy lunch.. He was like, "Sure, but they don't have a hose"..... LOL

NOTE: a hose is certainly better, but this just shows what is possible to keep your car clean and sealed in a hurry...no matter where you live...

We got to the bar about 15 min early. I mixed up 2 gals of ONR Rinseless wash (1 oz) and 6 MF plush towels in my traveling bucket. The waterproof top is a great asset.

6 towels in the bucket, the whole wash process was 4 minutes with both of us grabbing and using the towels. Don't ring them out, lay the plush side on sopping. If the car is very dirty - use more towels per car - maybe one towel per panel:

Discarding towels as we went - no towel used on more than 2 panels, that is the secret to no scratch. Used towels put on lid to keep them off the ground:
Image

a quick dry with waffle weave towels
Image

a quick wipe of each panel with Crystal seal - no buffing, just walk away
Image

and the gloss starts after 3 -5 minutes
Image

after 10 minutes

after 15 min

Done - this whole process in a parking lot with no hose took 14 minutes with nobody rushing...and he's good to go for another 6-9 months with reg washes..BTW, this was done in 72 degrees in bright overhead sun...these products have no problem with sun or heat.

Looks good! Out of curiosity, why no WD originally? Cost factor?

Ha! ....Yeah...I had run out and he did not want to spring for it...the TPnS and CS held up really well...My friend is one of those 99% non- DA people I talk about...this car is an appliance to him, not a hobby like us....Just the trunk lid has some small water spots on it I need to polish out, he could not even see them!..... LOL

Outstanding Glen, this is the perfect mobile solution for me to put in the trunk when we drive to LA to go visit our son

I got the bucket from a friend and never would have bought one, but I would now...it is so nice to load up and go do your car at a park and then use it as a stool....the bucket can be found many places - the top is called a "Gamma Seal" top for the bucket....completely water leak proof for when you travel...Just like this situation...

That really is quite amazing. I got tickled at this post on the detailing forums we frequent with people thinking you would actually throw the MF towels on the ground. Silly boys.....

BF= Free Lunch, I like it!
yeah I love that...people wagging their finger....silly, silly..I actually had to lecture my friend on making sure they stayed on the lid....next time another bucket...

Not trying to hijack, but wanted to share my results similar to your parking lot detail. I did a BF rinseless wash yesterday, in the ~38 degree weather in MA. Per your recommendation, I've been doing Wolfgang Spritz every other rinseless wash. Yesterday, I had to skip another, due to flurrying outside. Unfortunately, nobody bought me lunch for washing my car. :headbash:

This is just after BF Rinseless wash, having done the TPNS, WD, and CS about 2 months ago:

I think I got away with 3 this time. With folding the heavy MF towels (long-knap out) in 1/4s, I was able to get 4 washing surfaces on each towel. The car was not all that dirty, either, but the towels say otherwise! I also picked up a bucket from HD (with lid), to store the remainder of the solution, instead of tossing it like I was before. It won't be the hot water I used yesterday, but it's such a quick process, I can deal with it.

Neighbor looks at me crazy out washing my car in 38 degree weather. I'd say it was worth it. ;)

the reason for 6-8 multiple towels in not just a clean surface that meets the paint, but the "sopping wet" so it glides over the dirty surface on wash/rinse....I would try to move to individ small towels like we all use, so they are always sopping...hope this is understandable....I have to literally force myself to keep a towel to two panels, as it feels like it has a lot of rinse/cleaning ability left, but I dump it and start with another...that's the secret to no scratch...my plan the following:

towel #1: hood and windshield (finish on glass which does not scratch)
towel #2: front fender and driver door
towel #3: roof and all windows
towel #4: rear qtr panel and trunk top and rear of car
towel #5: other rear qtr and back glass
towel #6: pass door and front fender
towel #7: grill and quick pass on tires (not wheels)

I was using the 16x16 MF towels you recommended, folded in 1/4s. I also spray the surface down with a spray-bottle full of the Rinseless solution first, before bringing the towel to it. And, I splash a bit onto the towel by hand, without bringing the towel back into or near the bucket.

Are there better towels to use for the Rinseless than the ones from Microfiber Tech that you recommended? (https://www.microfibertech.com/16x1...om/16x16-Extra-Plush-Terry-530gsm-Microfiber-Towels--Blue-pack-of-10_p_135.html) I'm going to be ordering another 10 pack, so I don't have to be concerned with using too many during a clean/quick detail.

no those are fine - always using the plush side....but the above concerns me - the towels are sopping, dripping right - pulled out of the rinse? you are completely immersing the towels in the rinse right? (as in pic# 2 on my original post)

Correct.. Although the subsequent "splashings" after the initial removal from the bucket probably aren't as "sopping" as the first one. Once I have more towels, I can always use more.

Do you generally spray the surface down with the rinseless solution as well? I found these bottles on Amazon, perfect for this, as well as carrying some WF Spritz out with me...

1st save your fingers and buy a $12 garden sprayer....no finger pumping and you can get more on...I only pre-spray if the car is more dirty than dust, leaves, and minor crud.....and make sure I was really sopping - maybe 8-10 towels and a panel each, if really dirty...

use both, I have about 4 bottles filled with various stuff....iso alcohol/water, rinseless, waterless and glass cleaner...

Pre-spray is usually necessary here, it is New England in the winter after all. I don't drive the car when there is a storm or actual snow on the roads.. but the salt is inescapable.

I will check out the garden sprayer. Thus far, the small spray-bottle has worked great, but I do have to fill it every other panel, being I only went with 8oz bottle, for convenience of carrying.

Thanks, Glen!

... I did get him to not use the wand soap....
Glen, may I ask why not use the wand soap?

This may be off topic, but I can't seem to find any rinseless solution locally. None at Napa, CarQuest, Oreily ...etc ..... look like I have to order those stuff online (and it would take forever to get here by ground transportation since they are liquid)

wand soap is usually caustic and strips wax or sealants....it's not a "shampoo"....see my PDF for a great car wash product - chem guys - cheap by the gallon...
