battery light on.....

i went out to pick up dinner from the gate, and after i came back on base, my battery light turned on.

does this mean that my alternator just went out???

The battery light can be the alternator, the battery, or the battery cables.

You can download a 91 manual from www.hondahookup.com/manuals which should be the same as your 93. It has a troubleshooting procedure that is a bit lengthy to determine what is wrong.

I would take it to autozone or oreillys to have them test the system to determine which one is bad.

You'd spend more time trying to play automotive electrical expert than just taking it a sears, or some other tire/battery shop and paying less than $12 for an electrical system test. JM .02

I'm betting on an alternator AND a battery. 3 Accords have had this happen in my family, they all needed batteries and alternators.

Good luck.

As suggested AutoZone has a Volt Amp Tester that they will wheel out to your car & test the battery, alternator, & starter for free. It's pretty good. No sense in paying someone for the exact same thing.

I've played the battery/alternator game for years myself. Many times, one portion of the system will take out the other in my experience. If it's the voltage regulator, it only takes a small amount of time for it to damage the battery.

Get it checked quickly somewhere where they do a full check of the alternator and battery. If you drive (aggressively) for too long before doing so (charge the battery a couple of times before repair or similar), you'll end changing both out.

Question

I have Honda accord year 98. The battery light went on while I was driving, together with all the 4 doors light went on and also the brake light went on on the board. What does this indicate? Will I be safe to drive 30min to get the nearest walmart?
