Can not get key out of ignition

Ok a friend of mine is having a problem and I think the ignition switch needs to be replaced.

When she puts the key in it is sometimes hard to go in. It is hard to turn it on and sometimes will not turn to turn on. Sometimes it takes a while to do this. Right now her key is stuck in the ignition and she can not get it out. The key is stuck in the spot were the radio stays on and the key will not come out.

It is a 94 honda accord but not sure on the model.

If it is the ignition switch how hard is this to change?

Thanks.

did u say abra kadabra?

lol..if it was taking the key out and putting it in, it could do with the steering wheel..and just needing to turn it ...but other than that..im thinking its the ignition part where you put the key in

are u sure the cars in park? alot of cars now days dont allow you to pull the key out if its not in park..but im not sure if thats also the case with a 94 accord

I does sound like its a problem with the shifter's gear selector signal. The ignition switch will not let you take the key out unless it "sees" the shifter in Park. I don't have a way to troubleshoot it, though. Did you look at all the fuses to make sure they're ok? That's where I'd start looking first.

The most common cause is a worn out key. If you get it out, then try a different one.
