I don't really buy branded gas unless the price is right for the Accord. On my bike I usually buy Mobil since the SpeedPass tag makes it such a fast fuel stop without having to dig out my credit cards when I am wearing a full suit.

If it stinks and burns, I will run it in most cases.

Hey princess, do you think your mpg would improve if you tried 87? That way less fuel would get wasted with each compression. I'm honestly just curious.

trying to find the cheapest gas, honestly..... gas is up to 2.60 just down the road now, so looking for the cheapest...... starting to drive more conservatively now as well (70mph max speed on the PA turnpike).....

about gas mileage: when i figured out using the amount of gas i bought, then after i got back to philly, i got 24.6mpg (280 miles to 1/2 tank, according to gauge)...... but, when using the miles driven my tank capacity, i got a figure of nearly 34mpg.

which is right?????

doesn't hurt to look for backup car, right?

Gauges are almost always wrong. Divide miles driven/gallons put in. That's the only way to correctly get mpg.

I don't know.... we've used all grades in other cars with no difference. My mpg's main problem is ME! Not the car. On trips it does great! (I'm not the one driving)

I haven't EVER had good gas mileage, no matter what I drive. I'm off the line too quick..... every once in a while I do set out to behave & I can see the computer telling me how good I am.... then I'll stop at a light...someone will rev beside me... then I watch it go down..... In first it's about 10 mpg, in second 20, then if I'm good & drive smooth it will say 40-50 for a wee bit. If I do that long enough it changes my adverage.

I'm just really not caring about the mpg around town...where all my driving is. I'd rather have fun. Having a V6 that gets 32-35 on trips is nice..... but I bought it for my driving.... the pep! If I were only form Pasadena.....

Filling up is about a monthly (or longer) thing for my car anyway... so if I'm paying 3 bucks per gallon & get 15, it's not going to break the bank. His gets filled about every 2 weeks.... he seems to time the need as to when the prices jump...then whines. His commute is 20 miles each way.....high traffic. With knobbier tires he gets less than 20 too. Better on trips, but not nearly what the Accord can.

He puts regular in mine about every 5th tank or so, also mid grade every once in a while. It's because of the differences in cleaning agents. If I'm with him it's always premium. And it's premium on trips. I'm not sure how much the old theories apply to the computer controlled cars.... I'll just pretend the car is smart enough to compensate for whatever we put in them!!

The gauges are an estimate. Nearly all cars move slower on the first half of them, then speed up for the last half..... You can't figure mileage by the gauge, it has to be done according to how much you pump in!

First time poster. I love the website. I have learned much from everyone here.

I run mostly on Exxon/Mobil because I have thier credit card that gives me 3% back on gas and 1% on other purchases.

I have a quick question for you guys about the gas gauge and size of tank. I thought the tank held 17.9 gallons. I filled up once right when the light came on and it only took 14.5 gallons. The second time, I ran it right at the Empty line and it only took 15.5 gallons.

What's up? Are the fuel gauges why off? Has anyone else had this situation? What is the most gallons ever used at fill-up?
