car battery light indicator went from green to black dot. what does it mean?

i left the radio on without running the engine. battery was low, had to jump the car.

then when i checked the car battery light indicator, it is a black dot instead of the usual green dot. what does it mean?

It means that one of the 6 (2.1 Volt) cells is bad. Not all of them, personally I think this is a bad feature, or what ever you would call it, of the batter.

I let my car set over the winter storms in the garage and mine slowly went to black. Although, now that I'm driving it its back to green. On my 99 accord its been black for about a year now and its still kicking, so go figure

+1..Just put a charger on it for a few hours. If your battery is dead the green dot will not re-appear.

What he means is ask a mod to delete the previous thread for you.

You "think"?

Have a read of your owner's manual and the warranty coverage booklet that came with your car, unless things have changed, if you are an US owner, you likely will find the battery is covered for 3 years with full replacement warranty, in Canada it was two years full replacement and the third year is pro-rated.

It's just quite amazing just how much useful information is available in these documents that came with the car if the owners would just spend a few minutes reading them ........
