Question HFL Bluetooth System is Locked

New to the forum and have searched for this but I just bought an 08 EX-L V6 with HFL Navi/Bluetooth.
When I try to use HFL Bluetooth, voice system states "System is Locked, What is 4 digit ID code".

Tried the obvious ones (0000, 1234, 9999 etc) but no joy.

Disconnected the battery for 15 mins and reste the navi and radio but still no joy with the bluetooth code.

Manual says go to dealer but wondered if there was a less expensive option.
If no-one has any ideas I will go back to BMW dealer where i bought it and see if they will call the original owner but just not sure that will work.

Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks

Previous owner set a password to use it, but hopefully erasing his phone should take care of the problem. Go ahead and erase it first (press the steering wheel button, say 'help', and you'll hear all the options; pretty self explanatory), then pair yours following the instructions linked above and see if it works. Good luck.

Question

Thanks guys, but it seems I'm one step before that.

Seems the last owner locked the HFL system not just his phone pairing, so I can't get to a menu to erase the prior settings.

After reading the Acura HFL forums they say that you have to disconnect the battery and hold the leads together for 20 seconds. May try that before I submit to the Dealer option.

Will let you know.

Have you tried to reset the entire system?

Go into the system setup menu instead of the phone set up menu.

Say SYSTEM -> SETUP -> It will ask about male vs female voice prompts -> It will ask about ring tones -> It will ask about security options -> say no.

If that doesn't work, the owner's manual says to contact the dealer to have it cleared and reset.

The only other recourse would be to get the dealer to contact the original owner.

Closing out this loop.

Nothing worked so went to Honda, they were not familiar with the HFL pin code but suggested 0000 etc...........told them I had done that and they said I would have to book it in and pay for them to research it.

Sad but kinda expected.

I went back to the BMW dealership I got the car from and they tracked down the original owner after some encouragement from me. He gave me the correct code and once it I cleared the system as suggested above. All good now but Honda seem a bit behind on this one.

I went through this a few months ago due to me forgetting myself what password I set. You need to take it to the dealer they should bea ble to do it for you free of charge just prove you're the owner. The dealer you went to were just idiots. They gotta plug the car into the computer through the OBDII connector and reset it.
