What's the penalty for having no front license plate?

I just think the car looks better without a front license plate (accord coupe) and probably sedan too.

I can't seem to find the penalty/fine for not having it in Texas. I've read on a lot of forums that some people have never been pulled over and even when they are, they're just given a warning.

I think the biggest threat is it draws attention to you in that a cop will pull you over for it and notice other things or pull you over for speeding and then put that on top of it etc...

My plan is to always have the mounting bracket and license plate in my glove compartment and if I'm ever pulled over for it, I'll have it next to me in the passenger seat explaining to the cop that I was just on the way to get the screws for it!

It is based upon your state or local laws. In Kentucky, we arent required to keep a front plate but over in Ohio they are required to have them on their car.

If your state issues you a 2 license plates, then you need one for the front and back. They only issue 1 if you only need one for the back.

haha its funny how i just started a forum about this x]

i live in california and i just got a fix-it ticket for not having my front license plate.
its not a big deal.. you just gotta go put your plate back on and get it signed off by your local law enforcement officer. <- that's how it works in CALIFORNIA.

i have no idea where youre from.. and different states have different laws.

In WI, you can get a up to a $400 fine for not having a front plate. Usually you just get a order to fix it though. If you have "Collector" or "Hobby"plates, only the rear is required.

Seems like every state is different. Here in WA, I have left off the front plate since the car was new two years ago (09 coupe 6/6). In the first month I was so, uh, right-foot-excessive I got two good driving awards (speed). Cops never said a thing about the missing front plate.

If they notice it gone I don't think it's a big deal here in WA tho, just a fix-it and show-it, but if they ask where it is I'll say it's in the trunk because somebody backed into me and broke the plastic frame and I'm waiting for the dealer to get one in.

YMMV.

hey man im from el paso and here the cops are hard ass's when it comes to the front plates. But what i know you can do is if you get pulled over and get a ticket. Take a picture of your car with the license plate on go to court and it should dismissed happens all the time

Looks like you said you are in Texas.

State law requires that one license plate be in the rear of the vehicle and the other must be "forward facing," could be bumper or dash I believe.

Personally I just leave the plate in the trunk. Plate violations are a fix it ticket at worse. I have illegal tint too, but I feel that cops here in Houston have too much to do rather than worry about my tint and license plate.

My car has never seen a front plate and I live in Jersey. I believe the ticket costs 55.00 now. I leave it off because it looks way better with out it and also been a life saver. I rather have the plate ticket than the speeding ticket. My two cents
