I got tired of the coil cord in my view so I chose to mount the control unit in the cubby below the cd changer so I could close the door and retain the factory look. I had been racking my head the past week on how to do everything and think about future scenarios. I wanted to buy the Blendmount and hang it from the rear-view mirror but the fact that an officer could see it would mean I would have to remove it while getting pulled over. I also live on a military base and hate taking it down every time I pull through the gate (Gate guard tells me to take it down every time cause they are illegal on base).
Mounting it high I found to best fit my needs. I won't pick up laser if any up that high but I feel that if I ever saw laser anyway, I would start looking for a good spot to pull over... With that said, the detector will pick up radar signals better up higher so it was a done deal for me. The officer shouldn't be able to see it unless he is sticking his head in my car and looking up at the ceiling. I chose to put it behind the factory blue tint strip on the windshield because I can conceal it almost to not seeing it at all from the outside. (I'm not worried about not picking up any signals up there and behind the strip. I picked up a very strong KA band this morning heading down to the tint shop and gave me a nice 1+ mile notice).
I also put a hidden kill switch for the whole detector setup to keep it from chirping when I don't want it to like pulling through the gate on base and a cop coming up to my car lol.
All that above should answer most of the questions toward my decisions.....
Now onto the pics and install. This took me about 2 hours to complete total thanks to the following write-ups from fellow forum members:

Running the Escort Smart Cord wire - DIY Hard Wire radar detector
Recent Thread with Smart Cord Install - DIY: Escort Direct Wire Smart Cord Install
Using the first thread, I removed the center console in about 1 minute and removed the 4 screws holding the cubby in. Pulled straight out and I dremmeled a notch on the top of it to secure the wires coming out of it.
Blurry picture of the notch:
Thought I was going to have to drill a hole out of the back of the cubby for the wire and was pleasantly surprised to see this big ass opening when the door to it is closed:
Got this sticky ass 3M foam tape and stuck it to the control unit:
Took a sharpy and colored the side the tape cause it was gray.
After a few minutes of playing around where to put the switch, I ended up sticking it here. (Warning - This shit is sticky as **** and you only have one chance to stick it correct)
Used some industrial velcro from Amazon to help secure the wires permanantly from lifting and sliding around.
Added some electrical tape for insurance
Running the cable toward the fuse box
This is the panel under the steering wheel. That black thing with the button is the button for the KARR factory alarm system that Honda sold me. (Don't buy it). This is where I'm mounting the kill switch for the detector.
I used the second thread at the beginning of my thread to route the phone cable (power wire) to the detector exactly as he did.
Made everything pretty and put it all back together
You can actually see a blue cable hanging below around where your left foot would go. I've since fixed that lol.
Now you see me!
Now you dont!
