Instructions: how to remove/take apart side mirrors

Is there an instruction to how to take apart the driver side mirror?
The mirror cap got scratched and I want to replace it.

this is exactly what I was looking for. my driver's side mirror cap got scratched recently, and the passenger side mirror cap has a small crack in it (was like that when I bought the car, but with intentions to replace it very soon). thanks a bunch!

I tried doing it from the front (mirror side) and it was VERY difficult. If you have no intention of keeping the old one, its a breeze to remove by drilling several holes in the back of the skull cap (there is about 1/2" clearance) and just nibble away at it with pointed pruning shears or tin snips. New painted OEM caps are about $20 each shipped.
