Transmission Shifting Hard.. Pressure Switches?

Hi,

So I've noticed that my transmission has been shifting pretty hard and I was wondering if it's related to the 3rd/4th gear pressure switches. I have replaced the switches on my TL which helped a lot. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to locate them on my 1998 Honda Accord. Can someone please tell me where they are?

Thanks!

I have never heard of these pressure switches. How often do you change your ATX fluid? You should be changing it every 15K with Honda Z-1 or equivalent. I would change the fluid and see how it shifts after that before you tear open the tranny.

I'm not sure when the last time the ATF was changed as I pretty much "traded" the TL for this car with my wife. But I will have to check the fluid and will probably have to change it.

I found this diagram (LINK) (Part 12 and 13), but wasn't able to find it after briefly looking around. From the diagram, it does look like there are two pressure switches that can be replaced like the TL.

I guess something to think about.

Is this a 4 cyl or V6?
12 is the 2nd clutch pressure switch and 13 is the 3rd clutch pressure switch. There is no 4th clutch switch on the BAXA transmission. I have not heard of many problems with these switches on a 6 gen Accord. You should get a DTC code if there is something major wrong.

My car is a 4 cyl. When I looked again, the part number for 12 is different than what is listed on the Acurazine site for the Accord. I have yet to change the ATF due to Hurricane Irene, but I'll do it this coming weekend (although I do have a fantasy football draft...). :P

Do you think changing the switches would be a good preventative maintenance task? Just trying to prolong the transmission! :P

Haven't heard of anyone else doing it just for PM on Accords. Give it a try and report back. Only thing it can hurt is your pocket book
