Driving to lunch yesterday and this popped up.
FCW/LDW. got out the Owners Guide and it said that the LDW Camera was hot. I've had the car for 5 months now and this is the first time I've seen this. Is this normal ? I'm guessing, yeah the camera is hot. It's in the front window, how can it not get hot. It did stop after I came back to the car. :dunno:

Are you located in a geographic area that is warm or very sunny recently?

If the camera was in the sun for any extended length of time you will get this warning.

Nothing to worry about though unless it happens at night !!!!

Yup it's normal. It happened to me once so far. When I got to the store I parked under a tree so that it was under some shade and when I came back it went away. I think the temp that day was something like 107.

These faulty warnings to be ignored is getting annoying. You got FCW warning to be ignored, TPMS Warning to be ignored. Please forgive my ignorance, but it sounds like these features do not belong in hot climate states. I wished I could find tree to park under, and hope other people will stay away from trees.

These safety features are putting drivers' safety at risk.

Los Angeles, CA. Hasn't been that hot lately.

I've never gotten the hot camera message myself, though I haven't driven the car in extreme temperatures very many times.

And I, too, get false alarms on the FCW almost every day. Mine likes to target this one little tree in a median that I pass by on the way home from work. It's not even in the middle of a curve or anything. I'm half-tempted to just drive out there in the middle of the night and relocate the damn tree so I can stop getting the false alarm LOL.

That's hilarious...lol.

So, I did some searching and found this in the manual p. 460:

To help reduce the likelihood that high interior
temperatures will cause the camera system to shut
off, when parking, find a shady area or face the front
of the vehicle away from the sun. Also, do not use a
reflective sun shade that can concentrate heat on the
camera.

If the CAMERA HOT message appears:
• Use the climate control system to cool down the
interior and, if necessary, the defroster mode when
windows are fogged.
• Start driving the vehicle to lower the windshield
temperature, which cools down the area around
the FCW system.

It's the inside temperature that affects it, so if you park in a way that the sun has a direct hit on your windshield, it may occur.

Seems like the Camera should have been engineered with a higher temp rating.

Yeah, but at what additional cost?

The problem goes away after the car's interior cools down, which shouldn't take long. If someone needs FCW and/or LDW as soon as they drive off, then they probably shouldn't be driving anyway.
