Hi Everyone, first time post here. Appreciate any help in advance.

Here's my issue, the key fob buttons are not locking/unlocking my doors. I have checked both my key fobs to ensure that its not a battery issue. Both fob's have the same issue. I also checked that i didn't have a door slightly ajar. The sensor that open's the doors when the key fob's get close does work though. In addition the car starts normally. The only thing not working are the buttons on the fob itself.

Is there some type of setting that may have changed? Possible part gone bad?

Thanks again in advance.

Does the LED light on the key flash when you press it? If it does, it means it's no longer communicating with the car, and would suggest you take it to the dealer and get them to have a quick look at it as you're still under warranty.

Otherwise someone else here might have a solution :dunno:

Is the key fob battery warning light flashing on your dash display?

Just had mine go on my '13 last week. Fob was working, but dash light started flashing so i had to change the battery after 2.5 years of use.

Either way, you are about due for a battery change, so it might be worth a try.

It would be strange that both key fob batteries would die at the same time assuming one was being used and the other sat in a drawer. Take the car and both fobs to your Honda dealer and have them check out the system. They might replace both batteries for free under the warrany. There was an issue with the Smart Entry system relay. The symptoms was an intermittent flashing Smart Emtry warning light illuminating on the dash. Replacing the relay fixed the problem.

Funny that I stumble upon this problem as well. I have a 2015 accord touring and my smart-key SOMETIMES (like 3 out of 5 times) would not work. I use to have the 13 accord sport which I lock, when I got out, with the key fob. After 2 years of doing that, when I got the touring, I still use the smart-key to lock my car instead of the door button on the handle (habits). I thought the battery was going out too soon and did a search for fast drain battery/unresponsive smart-key and found this recent thread.
My problem is that the light does pop up when I push the button, but it does not do anything to the car, as in lock it and the indicator lights flash, until after a few presses on the lock button. (Maybe a bad signal?) I am not that far from the car either when I press it, roughly 20-30 feet.

My brother did suggest a fix, when we were watching old top gear episodes on netflix a while back, Clarkson showed us the key fob to the head trick. It works all the times I have tried it when I got out, but when I didn't, I had problems.

Maybe point the key to your head and pull... er I mean push the button? I will check with my Honda parts/service department to see a fix.

I would first try a capacitor discharge in the fobs. It's free, and it might fix your problem. Remove the battery, hold the lock and unlock buttons for 30 seconds. Reinstall battery. Happens all the time here at VW. The batteries get low voltage, and even when you put new ones in the fob still thinks its low.

2130 Accord key FOB problem

Try disconnecting your car battery for at least 30 minutes. When you reconnect the FOBs should sync with the car and start working as they should. If you have the nav system, make sure you have your radio code as you will need to enter this after reconnecting the battery. If you don't have the nav system, just press and hold the radio power button if you're prompted for a radio code and this will bypass the screen. I didn't lose any of my programmable settings (radio, seat positions, etc.) by disconnecting the battery except the clock.

Took your advise after putting in a new battery in a 2013 Honda Accord whose dash read low (fob) battery and continued reading low (confirmed battery's voltage 2nd time) after replacement. Discharged the key fob per your instructions, replaced the battery after discharging, and voila, it worked! Thanks!!

My '13 EX-L was doing the EXACT same thing. Key fobs will unlock doors and start car via proximity, but none of the buttons on either fob work. Fob batteries were replaced but it didn't help. I just did this and it totally fixed my fobs. They both work perfectly again!

Same here, 2013 Civic key fob had similar issues. I used the reset steps and added new battery.
i am going on day 3 of no issues. Appreciate the information because I was about to take it to the dealer.
Thanks

I have a 2015 honda accord sport non push button, I recently changed my starter and now both my key fobs that used to work dont work at all, also when the car is off the driver side door locks dont work either, when the car is on the driver side door locks do work. I also botice now that when the key goes to the position just before cranking the guages wiggle then when started they stop wiggling, any ideas here?
