Extended crank times - fixed! Warranty repair

Just passing this on in case someone comes across the same issue. Our 2016 Honda Accord Sport would randomly take too long to start. You would turn the key and it would crank for a few seconds before turning over. Honda was unable to re-produce the problem so I started taking video of the issue in order to prove it:

Once I was able to prove the issue I got Honda to fix the problem. Their tech had some trouble figuring out the cause but in the end they had to replace the fuel pump at the gas tank. The power of the cell phone camera was the ONLY reason I could get them to fix the issue so keep that in mind if you ever run into any oddball problems you have.

Cheers,
Glen in Norcal.

Same problem here. Accord Sport 2016. Long time crank (5 to 6 seconds). Fixed by replacing the high pressure fuel pump.

Hmm that happened a few times on my 2016 LX but I never paid much attention to it. I'll see how the 17 behaves.

Keep in mind, if the hard starting is occurring after a short trip in cold weather or just starting your car and moving it in the driveway, hold the accelerator to the floor. The engine can get slightly flooded causing the hard starting. Used to happen with my Civic sometimes too.
