Please help me decide on which Accord to buy

Need to buy in next 2 weeks.
My daughter just graduated college and is in need of a car for her new job.
So I'm selling her my 5 yr old Sonota for a great deal.

My new car Needs to be around $25-26K OTD...
I'm looking at Accord Sedan EX or Sport /SE ..
I'm 54 yrs old Male ( if that matters).

I like looks of EX .. but Don't like the wheels ... don't need a sun roof.

I really like the Sport looks.. but I'm nervous about upkeep and cost for tires, etc.

Also I like the Ex with the Apple Play.. I really like that feature for the Navigation.

I want comfortable seats and the leather and 10 way adjustments would be nice on the Sport SE.

Also, which one is more comfortable to drive?
What I mean is road noise and suspension. Is the Sport a rougher ride?

Lastly, I have been dreaming about Manual tranny. But wonder if that will grow old after a while... I drive 1200-1500 miles a month. Mostly highway... I'm a Salesperson.. lots of day trips.

I'm also going WOP or LS... but heavy leaning to White.

Ok..... I'm new here so please any advice would be great...thx

I like the look of the Sport but it lacks a lot of nice items such as I believe

Touch screen Audio System (with Car Play & Android Auto)
7 speaker sound system with subwoofer
Blind Spot Camera
Moonroof
Push Button Start
Remote Start
Keyless Entry
SiriusXM capability
LED running lights and fogs

I chose the EX over the Sport because it's a better deal overall. While you get the "appearance" upgrade on the Sport, it lacks lots of features I would want in a new car. Plus, you can always add Sport features on an EX.

The 2017 EX's come out in manual with limited color choice. I got a better deal on the EX and was able to add on the features I wanted. The overpriced 19s aren't that worth it either.

As for ride comfort, the 19s make the Sport ride a bit rougher than EX.

Thanks for the replies.

Ya... seems the EX has a few more features for around the same $.
Plus I'm more into comfortable ride..

Interestingly .. there are very few available in NC.
Many more Sports ..

If you want Sensing, you can't get it on the SE. With that much driving per month, you might find those extra safety features worthwhile.

And the LaneWatch camera isn't available on either the Sport or the SE. It's only available on EX and higher trim levels. And Navi is only available on EX-L and higher trims.

Besides, even if you don't like EX rims, you can always get a different set afterwards.

Decisions, decisions...

The Sport/Sport SE can be had for well under your OTD price while the EX might be closer to it. The next factor, based on your timeframe is what is available on lot. I have not found many 6MT EX, Sport/Sport SE cars in my immediate area (PA) but there is no shortage of the either of these trims in CVT.

I think that the wheels on the EX are not all that, but like others said, you could swap them out for slick aftermarket wheels to your liking.

And lastly, I agree that the Sport/Sport SE is not a full featured Accord with other cool options (Apple Carplay, Moonroof, LaneWatch). So if that is on your bucket list, go for the EX. Good luck in your search (and purchase)!!

From a 55 year old male to a 54 year old male, listen up sonny! LOL

Sport SE you get your leather. EX you don't. But IMHO Honda leather is horrible, so if I wanted leather I would go aftermarket. Do yourself a favor and go look at a Katzkin car.

I get exactly your problem - Honda doesn't make the car you want. You want an EX-L 6MT. So did I. I chose to go with a Sport and put CarPlay in it. At significant investment of time/effort/money. But that's what I wanted.

For the feature difference between the Sport and EX, I recommend breaking them down into 1) Really want, 2) Don't Care, 3) Don't want. For example the EX comes with a moonroof, but for me I want a car WITHOUT a moonroof so that was actually a detractor from the EX.

So for you, here's my bottom line recommendation:
  • Buy a 6MT EX. You get CarPlay (which I HIGHLY recommend)
  • Replace the wheels with aftermarket so you can keep the cheaper EX tires. If you go with Sport wheels, you get the cost of Sport tires which you said you wanted to avoid.
  • Add aftermarket leather.
  • Add whichever external bits from the Sport that make you happy. Spoiler, aero kit, etc.

You're welcome.

It's simple. People buy the Sport for the outside (looks), and buy the EX for the inside (features). You can get both with the Touring, buy you'll pay more than your target price. Personally, the 19" wheels are too big for me. I don't use the moonroof that often, but I know I would miss it if it wasn't there. Android Auto is also nice because I can use it for navigation, and ditch the Garmin and it's wire.
BTW, Honda leather is not durable, so you'll have to be gentle with it. I've sworn off Honda leather. The cloth seats don't burn my wife's delicate legs.

92 EX Sedan auto (RBM) - sold after 12 years (140k miles)
03 EX V6 Sedan auto (NBP, then Ford Blue) - traded in after 13 years (135k miles)
16 EX I4 CVT (KCM) with sensing - 5000 miles so far

Good advice all ... after some extra thought.

The EX is really nice and I can "live" with the rims.

Ya Apple Play seems important.. I use my iPhone maps all the time.

The MT isn't a big deal. I'd prob be better off with auto. Plus the CVT is much easier to find.

Yep.. interior comfort and features are more important than looks.

19" tires are expensive and Also I assume the ride will be "bumpier"....

Man.. we just talked me into the EX....
now I just need to choose White or Silver!

Personally, I would not have bought my EX if it did not have CarPlay. Call me silly, but it's a fact. There were a few things I was not going to compromise on, and head unit capability was one of them. Because, I am over needing to replace the head unit in a few years when I get sick and tired of crappy phone / Bluetooth functionality. With CarPlay and Siri Eyes Free, I'm set.

Personally I'd pick the EX based on Apple car play, push button start, smart key entry and moon roof.

I can buy another set of rims if need be.

Get the EX. You might want the features of the EX down the road if you pick up a Sport.

I have a Sport because I wanted none of the extras in the EX. From what it sounds like, you want the EX and a different set of wheels. There are side skirts and trunk lip spoiler if you want to add them on later on to give off the Sport look.

I think you'll be happy with the EX choice with all the extras.

I too can 'live' with the wheel style.I like the sport wheels more but really don't like black paint accented wheels.

I wanted white too.
However,I like black or a dark interior and the white only comes in a light ivory or gray.So I opted Lunar Silver which really is a nice color.Darker than traditional silvers.
