MINIMUM REQUREMENTS

(Effective Nov. 1, 2020)

Members may make purchases and post Want To Buy (WTB) threads, but do not mention or post anything you have For Sale (FS) or For Trade (WTT) until:

1) You have at least 30 acceptable posts outside of the Classifieds Forum section.

2) You have been a participating and contributing member of DriveAccord for at least 3 months (i.e. at least 90 days have passed since your first qualifying post).

This includes responding to WTB posts. If you think you have what someone is looking for, you'll need to send that person a PM instead unless you meet the minimum requirements.

- DO NOT post just for the sake of getting your required number of posts. Posts considered unacceptable will either be deleted or will not be counted toward the minimum requirement.
- All of your posts will be scrutinized and the Moderators will make the final decision on your eligibility to sell items here.
- If a member is seen as posting just to satisfy the minimum requirements, then your ability to post in the classified section may be rescinded.
- Posts made in the Classifieds section WILL NOT count toward the minimum requirement.

This rule is not debatable and will be strictly enforced as it is for the protection of our members. We do not want strangers coming onto the site and scamming our members.

Any FS or WTT post found not meeting the minimum requirements and/or classified forum rules will be deleted without notice.

CLASSIFIED FORUM RULES

1) Start the title of the thread with FS: (For Sale), WTB: (Want To Buy) WTT: (Want To Trade), or FREE:.

2) In the body of your For Sale, Want To Trade, or Free post, please use the format below to list THE BASIC FACTS for each item being sold or traded:

THE BASIC FACTS

A. What is for sale/trade (model, specs, etc.):
B. Condition:
C. Price/What you want to trade for:
D. Location of item:
E. Picture of item for sale / for trade / for free with a sheet of paper (i.e. verification slip) with the following on it:

  • Your user name
  • DriveAccord
  • Today's date

Example:

If the For Sale, For Trade, or Free post does not follow the above format, it may be deleted without any notice. If it get's deleted, don't complain since you didn't follow the rules.

Can't provide all the BASIC FACTS? Then you're not ready to post.

3) DO NOT bother registering if it's for the sole purpose of selling things. Take it to eBay or Craigslist. The intent of the Classifieds section is for participating/contributing DriveAccord members to sell and trade items they no longer need or want.

4) No commercial sales or solicitations allowed. If you would like to sell comercially, contact the Admin or sales[at]autoguide.com to become a site sponsor/vendor.

This includes group-buys offered by non-DriveAccord sponsoring vendors. If you or a non-DriveAccord sponsoring vendor would like to conduct a group-buy, please contact the Admin first. Any unauthorized group-buy postings will be deleted.

5) All items sold or traded must be your own personal property (no selling/trading for someone else). You must personally own the item and be accountable for the condition and delivery of the item for sale or for trade.

All items sold must also be in quantities that are reasonable for use in normal applications. In other words, no bulk or volume sales (bulk sales mean > 1 item).

If you acquire items in quantity with the intent of offering them for resale here, you are considered a dealer under this rule (refer to rule # 4).

6) NO price gouging or flipping. You may not sell an item for more than what it normally costs or what you paid for the item itself under any circumstances. Things that should not be calculated into the items price paid include, but is not limited to, the cost to get the product to you (i.e. taxes, shipping fees, custom and duty fees) or your personal time and labor. Take it to eBay, Craigslist, or somewhere else if you're looking for a profit.

Trying to profit off of fellow DriveAccord members is not in the spirit of this forum.

7) Prohibited items:
  • No bootleg/pirated software (This includes copies of navigation DVDs)
  • Illegal material/stolen property
  • No reselling subscriptions or access to data behind a pay wall
  • No Pornographic or Not Work Safe (NWS) items are to be sold or traded in this forum
  • Alcohol, tobacco, or any type of related products
If you're posting a sale for software (i.e. computer, gaming console, navigational discs), movies, or software bundled with other items, you are required to post a picture of the item(s) with its seal of authenticity or other means to verify that the item is genuine.

8). DO NOT bump the thread more than once per day. DO NOT bump the thread if it's still visible on the 1st page of the Classified section. A “bump” is a post to get your thread back to the top of and/or on the 1st page.

a) DO NOT bump the thread if someone has already bumped it for that day. It is not necessary. Excessive bumping will result in either the bump post(s) getting deleted or the entire thread.

9) Please post in your thread when each item has been SOLD or ask a Moderator to lock it.

10) DO NOT create a new thread for items that you have previously posted For Sale (FS) or For Trade (FT). Bump your old thread.

11) NO "feeler," "gauging interest," "testing water," or "possibly for sale" type threads. Either you're selling or trading the item or you're not. If you're not sure, don't post it here until you are ready.

12) You MUST list an asking price.

13) Please keep any discussion/posts on topic and relevant to the topic.

This is for the seller's and buyer's benefit. A person shouldn't have to read through a bunch of posts to see if, for example, the item has been sold or not, if the price has been lowered, if the seller is now willing to ship, etc.

Excessive chatter will result in the deletion of the thread. Have a comment? PM the seller.

14) Don't just post a link to your eBay auction, Craigslist ad, or other For Sale/For Trade listing. This also means no 'describing' an ebay item or item number, PMing links to bid on eBay or similar sites. All the Basic Facts are required even when posting a link to another listing, an eBay auction or Craigslist ad.

15) DO NOT thread crap. It is not the job of members to tell the seller whether the price is too high or too low. If you don't like the price, then PM the seller and work out a more reasonable price. If you're not interested in the item, then don't post in the thread.

16) Those who continually ignore, violate, or fail to follow these rules may be suspended or banned.

DISCLAIMER

All transactions are the responsibilities of the parties involved. We are not responsible or liable for any transactions that may go bad. Please use sound judgment when you make a purchasing and payment decision.

These rules are NOT for n00bs to debate. Please READ the thread for justification

what we are trying to avoid here is people who have 10 posts of whatever, then post in the classifieds, then no longer contribute.....

that being said, you are free to stay, and contribute... but having either your first post, or 11th post of whatever you're selling, is not tolerated......

honduh.com has a minimum post limit to view certain forum, let alone trying to sell things online.....

if you are having that much trouble, try selling it on e-bay, or another online site, or you could even do it the old-fashioned way by taking an add out of your local paper......

have fun in whatever you do, and hope to see you stay on here.... :)

I think it's time for a revision of this rule.

I think the best thing to do is if you want to post thread in the classifieds, you have to be approved by a moderator. Not for every post mind you, just once to get posting privileges in this forum.

That way, we can have only active members of the community posting stuff for sale, not every ricer that pops over from V6P or the billions of other ricer sites.

ok i have the required post and i am trying to get rid of these wheels and tires taking up space, and you keep deleting my post? whats up?
If you read this whole thread you'd know that this is not a place for people to post ten things just to sell your wares. If you'd like to try that, you can go to V6P.net or Honduh.com or Honda-Acura.net. Not here.

ok, let me step in here, before things get ugly....

if you are going to stay, you can post as many things as you want in the classifieds section, as you are going to contribute to the fourm......

if, on the other hand, you (or anyone else, for that matter) decides to post xx amount only to get access to sell whatever it is you are selling, then please go elsewhere....

we, as a forum, are trying to avoid this problem from the past where people would just join to post and never be heard from again....

if anyone else has anything to say (or add) to what i stated above, please feel free....

We learned in grade school that sitting down being quiet and doing your work does not count as participation. Participation is speaking up and helping out as well as being helped. I can't verify that you've been around for any longer than today and even if I could it wouldn't count because you didn't contribute until now, ironically right when you needed to sell something :dunno:

#12 ·
ben,

not to boast here, but i believe that what i stated above suffices here.....

#13 ·
that is why we have started a poll, and letting the forum as a whole decide on whether if the rules for posting in the classifieds need to be tweaked...... or not...... :)

#14 ·
HEre's what it boils down to.

If you're an active community member that meaningfully contributes and then decides to post in the classifieds, then your classified ad is just a classified ad.

If you just signed up yesterday and posted in the classified ads, or just made 10 nonsense posts somewhere just so that you can meet the minimum requirement, then your classified ad is SPAM.

I don't make the rules, or even enforce them. But I do agree that we can't just have people we've never seen nor heard of coming here and selling their wares.

And, I'm way past gradeschool.

Doesn't matter. In college and even in the working world if you just show up and do nothing you're likely to get zero credit for participation.

Lighten up. I was trying to use humor to say I've been around the block a few times, been there-done that, whatever. Sorry if it wasn't taken that way.

I agree with what stiller fan, BenjiBoy650 and you have said here. I don't know how many moderators are here, but the rules need to be easy to enforce and not a judgement call. I haven't found the "poll" yet that stiller fan mentioned. That's my $.02, and I'm out of change.

The poll is in "Drive accord forums" in the offtopic section.

Hi all,

I'm not sure that I understand your definition of "participation". I've been a member of many different forums (Isuzu, Hyundai, Ford and Honda) because I've owned a number of different makes and am interested in cars. I love forums such as this one because the people here are generally knowledgeable and friendly.

However, I work full time, and am neither a mechanic nor very mechanically inclinded. I can do some simple things such as changing oil and following directions. I tend to mostly read posts and occasionally comment because most of my browsing time is while I have a free moment at work. By the time I get home at 7:00pm at night I have two kids and a wife that require a lot of attention and that usually doesn't leave a lot of free time.

When I have an opinion on something, or some piece of useful knowledge to share, I most certainly will post. But this has to be the first forum that I've joined that punishes someone for not being active enough. So if I only post a few times a year, but when I do I share something that maybe no one else has seen, am I still not good enough to be a member of this forum?

And posting in the classifieds is most certainly not spam. I'm an IT guy and I know plenty about spam to say that listing an item for sale on this forum is no different that putting out an ad in my local newspaper. I'm not sending unsolicited email to your mailbox, and if you aren't interested in what I'm selling you don't need to read the post.

I just so happened to purchase a very nice used '98 Accord, which is also the first Accord I've owned since my old '84. The car was well kept but came with a flashy set of chrome rims that I'm not a fan of, so I posted a for sale or trade add here last night, only to see that it's been deleted because I didn't meet the silly minumum post rule.

Anyways, sorry to get off on this long rant. But I do think the minumum post rule is silly and unnecessary.

to be honest, the only reason we really have the rule in place is because at times, we will have a swarm of people who post an ad and never hear from them again.....

my suggestion to you would be to talk to one of the moderators, or the webmaster himself (wardsweb), and maybe try to state your case here..... who knows, they may waive the rule for you.....

welcome aboard, regardless.... hope to hear from you more.....

#18 ·
OK, since you've asked and made a point, I will reopen the thread but the rule stands and will probably be modified to be even stricter...since we have so many people who think they can just come here to sell stuff.

Remember this is different from a newspaper because somebody pays to run this place, in a newspaper you have to pay money to put an ad.

The pic in the ad disappeared for whatever reason...you can reupload it, I don't know what happened to it :dunno:

open forum or restricted club?

dont you think that you are doing a dis-service to your members by not allowing them the chance to purchase items from private sellers that they can get at other sites?I understand the logic behind your actions but you can purchase items everywhere on the net. Maybe if you were a little more understanding of this the site would have more than 2500 members.

#21 ·
this site does NOT tolerate, under any circumstances, people joining just to sell stuff.... if you are wanting to do that, you are free to go elsewhere.....

this is a Honda Accord site, full of information about problems and solutions to not only the Accord, but other hondas as well.....

this time last year, i don't even think that we even had 2000 members..... the rate of people joining and CONTRIBUTING has literally exploded since last winter......

this is not craigslist.....

i am not trying to be mean or nasty here, sorry if it came off as such..... :sorry:

Nope.. No restrictions to who can join these forums. You are welcome to stay and read up/ post your opinions as long as you accept the opinions of the other members. With that said, each town has their own laws and in our "town", you have to be an actively participating member to sell your stuff here. We'll be doing our members a bigger disservice by allowing everyone to sell on this forum.

I occasionally "skip over" some ads that are useful ie. wheels and tires (some need winter wheels) and accessories. I leave some up when I know it might be useful to another member (ie. we had a person with one post put up an ad about parting out a 91 Accord, I left it up for stiller but he reported it anyway :lmao: ). But there are people who are joining to sell 20" rims that nobody wants, wrecked Dodge's, a hybrid Civic with a B-series...that stuff is ridiculous and is not tolerated.

In addition, dealing with members with only 3 posts that are selling things is risky. You have no idea who this person is, what they really are up to. For all we know they could have just joined to scam some poor soul.

The BS postings have come down recently but if they go back up, expect the rules to get even stricter ie. 30 posts AND one month membership or mod's approval.

You're right, parts can be purchased everywhere on the net. Our members are not stupid, they look for what they need in various places. Maybe this isn't their first place to look but then again this isn't a junkyard/dealer/Autotrader.

High quality 1st post :thumbsdow .

With an attitude like that I'm sure that most members here would be lining up to purchase something from you :lmao:

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion though and it is an open forum

Thanks for posting your opinion.

I would rather have a forum with 100 knowledgeable members with good attitudes over one with 20,000 members with one like yours.

I1 :)
