Around 50 Mph, my steering wheel vibrates consideribly, any faster and the entire car shakes. In the past 2 days I have gotten new tires, but the place I bought them said that they balanced them. I was also stuck in a snow bank, today and one of my tires was wedged in a pot hole. I'm worried that when the truck pulled my car out he may have bent something, because he couldn't drag my car out straight. Do you think it is a tire balance problem, or something that was bent during the tow? The car is in for regular maintenence today, but what would cause shaking like that if something was damaged and the aprox. repair cost?

there's no way to know what's damaged by not seeing the car
could be anything from snow packed in the wheels to a bent rim, damaged suspension, axle, a damaged subframe or worse.

I'd wait to see what the shop says when you dropped the car off. did you tell them this?

There is a very good chance that you may have bent a rim or thrown a weight. I had a similar problem today but it was because I couldn't resist playing in an open parking lot last night with 5in of snow across it and I got wet snow caked on the inside of my wheels and it froze there over night, thus throwing the wheels off balance, so I suppose it could be that as well.

I would say if the problem doesn't go away in a couple of days, take it back to the place that you bought your tires and tell them about the vibration, but DON'T tell them you were stuck in a snow bank.

Hmmm, sounds similar to what I am going through right now. Hopefully it is just needs to be weighted and balanced correctly.

Yeah I saw your other post too. Like I said, yesterday morning my car was shaking real bad as well and it turned out it was just ice that was frozen to the inside of the wheel. It's supposed to warm up around here over the next four days, I would just wait to see if the problem goes away after a couple of days, I would say it probably will.

Yeah, a piece of ice will definitely screw with your balancing! You could go out and there see if you can remove it?
