View Full Version : heated sideview mirrors on my '05 sedan
Cordi2005 02-24-2007, 04:14 PM I would like to add heated sideview mirrors to my '05 sedan. Has anyone here done this? I can handle electrical connections and I am good with schematics. Would '06-'07 mirrors (just the mirrors) physically fit in my housing? Do the heated mirrors just require 12 volts of power to make them work or is there something else involved? How are the heated mirrors controlled...is there a switch on the dash? Any input would be appreciated.

you would need 06 hybrid mirrors, they wire up to the stock harness, and they are conrolled by a button next to the angling button, that come on the hybrids
VTECaddict 02-24-2007, 08:19 PM all 06+ Accord EX and higher have heated mirrors, so you dont need the hybrid mirrors to get heat.
not sure if the new mirror glass will just snap on, but if it did, then you just need to snap it on and wire it up. the switch is next to the power mirror switch as mnkyman said.
alpha 02-24-2007, 08:31 PM Is the switch there for non heated mirror equipped cars? I would assume no. So you'll need to run some wires, and either get the switch module or hook it up to a different switch.
VTECaddict 02-24-2007, 08:59 PM its not there, so you need to buy a new switch.
SSMV6 02-24-2007, 09:29 PM Honda doesn't sell the side mirror parts separately. You'll have to buy a complete unit. You don't need a factory switch for the heat to work, but you do need a switch if you don't want the heat to work every time you start the car. The wiring is pretty straight-forward once you know which wire does what. Unfortunately, I don't know what the wire colors are.

I can't see the wiring being more than 5 wires, and that's for the hybrid mirrors. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd assume, one ground, one positive to the LED blinker, one positive to power windows, one positive to heat, and one extra that covers something i didn't think of.

Actually I think hybrid mirrors have 7 wires to each mirror. Not sure what each one is for but heres a pic of the harness from v6p.

SSMV6 02-25-2007, 07:11 AM This is just an educated guess, but I think it should be ground, blinker, heat, PM up, PM down, PM left, PM right.
Cordi2005 02-25-2007, 12:29 PM thanks for the replies guys...where can I get the wiring schematics? I looked up the parts on Majestic Honda and it looks like the sideview parts are available individually and so is the switch...buying the whole assembly is not needed. Looks like the wiring harnesses are also available. Any input on wiring schematics would be real helpful. If I successfully do this with your help, I will post the "how to" when I'm done.
Princess might have something for you, might need to PM her. Take a pic of the mirror switch if you order one, I'm curious what the connection looks like underneath it all and what the best route would be for connecting the mirrors to it with.
And I'm curious to see how many of the individual parts you will need from each mirror to get the heated function. Looks like you'll need at least the mirror glass and actuator. (both heated)
mech_e 02-25-2007, 08:27 PM so you don't actually replace the mirrors, you just add the guts? Is this possible with 2drs?

I don't see why not, thats what people are doing with TSX mirrors on their coupe. I'm pretty sure the only thing different is the mirrors mounting base on the coupe.
princess 02-26-2007, 08:23 AM the wire diagrams are now in DIY area..... :dunno: Good luck!
mkaresh 02-26-2007, 08:39 AM I'd think the easiest and cheapest thing to do would be to get two entire heated mirror assemblies and the switch off a totaled 2006 or 2007 Accord in a junkyard. There should be plenty of them, given how many of these are bought each year.
I went this route when I knocked a mirror off my car backing out of an underground garage parking space. Paid $60 for a heated Ford mirror already painted my color.
