Will NAVI automatically adjust to the new daylight savings time? How does it know when to do it? Is the change hard coded as a certain time every year or does it do it via a signal in the GPS network? If it has to be adjusted manually, will it "over adjust" in a few weeks? I'm sure a software patch will fix it if needed but I doubt it would be available until the next release in a year.

It will change automatically, just like your cell phone and computer if connected to the internet.

although I do not have it I would be VERY surprised if it did not automatically update
my computer does it, my Garmin GPS does it, my mobile telephone does it.....

Mine has in past years.... but they changed everything this year..... :dunno:

Windows is sending an update for the computer... I'll see what I can find out about our Hondas' Nav..... :)

I'm on hold with the Honda Corp now.............. :D

OK, they CLAIM it will do it automatically if you have that feature on (vs. manual time change) since it gets the info from the satellite.

We'll see come March 11th!! :D

Cool. Tks, Princess.

That's what I was wondering. I know computers and even VCRs etc . . . have features that automatically account for daylight savings time, but the date we change the clocks is changing this year. I was wondering if that logic was hardcoded in (e.g. its always the Xth week of March) or if there was some other channel of information.

Sounds like our NAVI will be fine but what about VCR's and other items that normally do change but now the date will be different.

Update for Windows XP (KB931836) - Most people don't need this update, but if you're not always connected to the internet, this update will automatically change the time on your computer on March 11th.

We'll see who's right on the Nav..... my prince says he saw a Service News that said we'd have to manually change it until they do new software.

But he also siad the explaination from the Corp. sounds reasonable too. :dunno:

It's my understanding that this change was proposed in 2005... so my guess would be anything manufactured in the latter half of 2005 and all of 2006 should be coded with the "new" logic for the time change. Maybe.

Perhaps only time will tell.

I had to give the customer service person my VIN, so they knew I was asking about an '03..... she had no clue if the newer ones would do anything different. (she wasn't the sharpest tool.... she went away & asked someone else.)

Here's what Honda's telling their people:

Re: Information on Daylight Savings: Any 2007 Vehicle with Navi

Print this iN message and provide a copy to the Shop Foreman and all Technicians.

Background

On March 11th the new Daylight Savings schedule will begin as mandated by the US government. If a customer complains that their Navi clock is off by one hour, have them go to the setup “clock adjustment” screen and do the following:

1. If the clock adjustment screen has a setting called “ Daylight Saving”, turn it off

2. Adjust the clock up by one hour if necessary.
