Depends on what kind of service

1.) regular mileage-based service intervals.

2.) oil changes

They shouldn't reset the ECU for things like that. They may unintentionally reset the ECU on electrical work by disconnecting the battery for a period of time, or if you go in with a complaint of rough idle...things like that.

I took my car in for an oil change and they didn't reset the ECU. Its not even time for a new oil change yet but the light is already blinking. I don't understand why they don't reset it.

If the light wasn't on when you took the car in, the tech probably didn't notice.

It's all done by miles, if your light is blinking you can reset it yourself by using the insturctions provided in the owners manual. Next time, actually do the oil change when the light is saying to, and they'll reset it I'll bet you.

Makes sense. Although they should do it just so the light wont go on early. ;)
