I've got an autobox, so all of this might be the norm for all you MT guys, but it's new for me

I tried driving around in lower gears this week, and it was a lot of fun!

Normally, my car shifts at around 2,000 RPM more or less. This week, it saw (gasp) redline at 6,300 RPM! At first, I was pretty apprehensive at doing this, but my fears went away once I saw that I really wan't going to break the car by revving it up that high.

I noticed something about VTEC - it doesn't seem RPM dependent, but rather, on how hard I mash the throttle. I took it up to 5,500RPM in 2nd gear and nothing seemed to change in terms of power delivery. However, if I goosed the throttle - Oh my...vtec goodness.

I also played around with moving the gear selector around while the car was in motion - engine braking can be really strong sometimes.

I'm really proud of myself - i played around with D3, 2 and 1; now I feel like a true Honda owner.

That is all! :notworthy

Don't do this with the Camry. The tranny might just blow up

As far as I know, vtec on these i4's is not rpm dependant, but throttle dependant. I don't know much about it though so maybe someone could get you some better info on this.

Also, get a MT next time for even more fun.

I don't know how to drive stick - i would love to learn, but who would be able to teach me how? :dunno:

True, and oddly enough, i have never messed with the manual mode yet.

The Camry is definately not a car that says "push me' the way the Accord does; the camry is still an appliance but with lots of power, great MPG, and bells and whistles.

I'll teach you if you swing through central Ohio, but not using my car :)

Driving stick is easy. I could teach you in literally 5 minutes, and even let you use my accord, thats how confident I am. If youre ever near cleveland/akron area, let me know.
