I just bought a 2004 Coupe EX and noticed a random rattle (somewhat fast) over bumpy and sometimes smooth roads (comes and goes) I originally thought the license plate guard was loose, but after tightening it, I realized that wasn't the problem. The rattle is coming from the driver's side rear and it sounds as if it is on the back dash--speaker perhaps? I reset and locked the back seats into position and checked in the trunk for any loose bolts, but to no avail. I have also ruled out the seat belt buckle. The rattle is not a heavy thumping, but more of something that may be loose and tapping rapidly against another part.

Any idea? Help? Advice? It's not so bad where it is a constant sound, but does get annoying especially with a new purchase.

If you have a moon roof, push on it while it is closed, if it makes any sort of sound...that could be it....I just had mine "adjusted" at the dealer. It rattled over bumps and rough terrain, and often sounded like it was from the back. Turns out it was above my head.

Also check the trunk release handle, and your spare tire. Tighten everything you can find down.

And lastly, ask Princess...she knows everything.

... removed everything(tire,etc..) from my trunk, and rattle appears to be more present with less weight ... at this point I suspect the muffler theory from my other thread
