My mechanic has suggested replacing struts after an inspection of the car. It was giving me a bumpy ride in the front of the vehicle He wrote the following down along with the front struts parts:

1) Mounts (which some people always recommend to install with struts - cost $10 each)

2) Links - I guess he's referring to stabilizer links? About $20 each

3) Bushings - $18 total

Questions:
1) I'm wondering if it's good practice to replace the links & bushings too along with the struts since he's already putting in the labor to lift the car and attack that area

2) Can someone knowledgeable tell me which bushings should be ordered from this page? There seem to be multiple listed for my 98 Accord

what's your mileage?

There are no upper mounts like other car struts have. Hondas are more like coil over shocks. The mounts are solid metal plates that can be re used. On cars with struts that steer with the wheels, the upper mounts are bearing plates that always should be changed.

There are two large rubber bushings up there that should be changed and some other hardware.

The bushings he's referring to are most likely the damper fork bushings in the lower control arms. They tend to get weak and collapse over time.

as for links, I don't know I'd guess anti-roll bar end links.

In the attached pic you shouldn't need 7 or 1, but should change the rest. If you're really high mileage, I'd change the springs as well. This will raise the car and restore the camber back to where it was when new, esp if you experience inner edge tire wear.

In the second pic you'd need 16, the bushing. 2 of them.

I should have given further specs about my car
98 Accord V4
4DR LX
120k miles

1) You have stated in your first point that the upper mounts/bearing plates should be changed. What part number is that in your attached images?

2) Also, can you point me to the correct illustration for the springs?

Thanks a lot for your accurate answers

I went to collegehillshondaparts.com

If you have your vin handy, type it in the field provided.
then once it tells you what your car is, have it list all parts categories.

remember, Honda cars with double wishbone suspension don't have upper bearing plates, just a metal mounting plate that doesn't wear. The coil-over shock doesn't rotate when steering the car.

Look under these categories:
Front shock absorber, you should replace all parts except 1, 7, 8, 10 and 11. They shouldn't wear out, but the rubber parts should be changed.

the springs are in this picture.

Question what kinda of tool would you use to change the lower control arm shock bushings? I was going to cut them out with chisel and c-clamp new ones in .
