Honda Car Care Days, April 1 - April 30, 2007.

Since April is National Car Care Month, you might check your tires, oil and coolant level. But how do you examine tie rod ends or a CV-joint boot? Haven’t a clue? Don’t worry. It’s not a mystery for the shrewd investigators at your Honda dealer when they give you a free, 40-point inspection. After a professional examination of your engine, brakes, drivetrain, suspension and steering components, you’ll get the whole story with a detailed report of your Honda’s condition.

i went today and got a new cap/rotor (i had a new one already but it was not a honda one), an oil change (i just did it like 1k ago but it was free), new wires, and new plugs (which i had just replaced 2k ago but they were a little better than the ones i had put on). just made it at 149520.

everything else checked out
there was a recall for some wire but my car had to many miles and they couldn't do it, but they said if i haven't had any problems yet there won't be any.

How many miles do you have?

He has almost 150k. I think they stop at 100k, so you just gotta keep on this kind of stuff, that Recall is nearly 10 years old. I got mine done at 88k.

I bought my accord a couple months ago with 89k on it, they gave it a 150 pt inspection, so i'm thinking I may not need this but still may take advantage of it (hell it's free and I'll also have them double check that I haven't missed any tsb's/recalls etc.)- they have wireless internet at the dealer so i can just screw around while they do it.

You guys hoping that they check out your TSB's and recalls and all that jive, they aren't gonna do jack for you. I did this two years ago and I got not one, but THREE completely made up services that I "needed" to do. Oh and they got the car dirty, and scratched the side sills. AND they were giving out free road atlas too...ran out already.

1) NEEDS battery --> Says who?? --> Car starts --> BATTERY IS FINE

2) Parking brake needs to be adjusted --> Honda spec says 6-9 clicks --> mine is 8 clicks --> Someone didn't read

3) Needs air filter --> Looks okay to me

There were also two other areas they said I needed to replace, IIRC one of them was clutch. Then they scribbled it out and wrote acceptable over it. Tells me that they went fishin that day, too bad they got the wrong fish.

I hear ya man. Pretty much everyplace you go to, will tell you that you need an Air filter, or that this is low, etc.

1) NEEDS battery --> Says who?? --> Car starts --> BATTERY IS FINE
Haha thats great

That would've been the last time I went to that dealership....

Not all dealerships are cut from the same sheet metal!!!

My dealer is reputable and I know this from experience. They do what I ask and recomend what I need... only semi-complaint that i have is the wait time.... oh well, they have wireless internet so I just bring my laptop!

this is funny

every year since 05 i have done this..... they have told me that i need about 300-500 dollars worth of repairs to bring her up to speed.....

notables:

- windshield (no cracks)
- hoses (still ok there)
- brakes (just replaced)
- exhaust system (it was fine)
- tune-up (car runs fine now)

i tell my mechanic these things, he looks it over, tells me everything is ok.....

why do i bother? :dunno:

My experience with this service has been fine. Last time I was told what I needed, and it was very correct. I had oil leaking from my tube seals and they quoted me $350, I declined, and got it done during the 90k mile.

My Honda dealer is very kind and honest, they give you free loaner cars as well. Last time they gave us a 2006 Hyundai Sonata LX V6 (I love how the HONDA dealer gives HYUNDAI loaners, that doesn't look good... however it proves Hyundai's reliability.). Was not a bad vehicle at all! I don't think people should think that just becuase their Honda dealer isn't a good one, that all the others are the same. I get that message on this website alot, I've tried 3 and I found the 1 that does the job right. Just my $.02.

I'll say this, and maybe someone will think I'm stupid for saying it, but whatever.

If a Honda has less than 3yrs or 36k miles on it, you're wasting your time with this inspection IMO. They're not going to find anything, and they'll just tell you, you need a 10k mile maitenance done or soemthing. My time is too valuable to do this kind of thing on such a new car, but maybe yours isn't. :dunno:
