As my first post to DA, I wanted to create a new thread as an offshoot of the "Eggs and Scraped Paint" discussion. In particular, I was moved by Steve's comment that "Maybe their parents will be people who care....why does our society keep going down the tubes? I'm sure if my parents were to catch me doing something like that I would still be hurting from the punishment."

A long time ago, I embarked on a rather ambitious effort to hopefully turn this negative tide with society, so it doesn't "go down the tubes." I am a motivational speaker who enjoys visiting schools to share with K-12 students the positive perspectives and the realities of growing up with my cerebral palsy. I also encourage my audience to ask questions that would hopefully give them a better understanding of people with special "abilities." So I have been making a conscious effort to ensure that our country's future does not have as much hate and intolerance as our present one apparently does.

I think you'll agree that there is no better feeling in the world than to make students smile and feel good about themselves and what they can do with the right attitude! I have been visiting schools for assemblies since I was ten years old (25 years ago) and am still passionate about guiding students to bring out the best in others (and hopefully reduce incidents like the eggs and scraped paint).

I also own a 2004 Accord that is my pride and joy! I posted this message in the gallery because it's the closest forum to a "Member Introduction" thread on DA. I'll even be ready to post pics of my Accord soon!
