One of the available accessories is the cargo tray (aka trunk tray). Does anyone have one? I am interested in how the cargo tray and cargo net work together.

the trunk tray protects the carpet in the trunk

The cargo net holds things in place.

Wardsweb,

Thanks for the pics, but I wanted to know if anybody has BOTH the tray and net working together. The net needs hold-downs on the floor, but they would be covered by the tray. You could cut holes in the tray, but then you have openings for liquid to pass through.

I was going to get the tray, then use velcro or some other method to secure the bottom ends of the net to the tray.

I try to ask questions first because there are usually some very innovative people on these forums. Looks like I will be the one to make the mistakes on this project though. :)

In every other vehicle application that I've seen/used, the cargo net and tray work perfectly together. In fact, notes like that will usually be made in our accessories book (for example, you can't have an Acura RSX body kit and mudguards).

If you'd like to give it a whirl and you don't like the result, we always offer refunds too.....

Not going to work on a 2003. My salesman pointed this exact fact out to me.

One of his customers stated he wanted both but he did not want to drill holes in the bottom of the tray for the same reasons you stated. None of the literature states this but both can not be done together in a factory fashion.

This is true for the coupe but I am sure the 4-DR is the same way

Gordy,

Thanks for the input. The cargo net didn't come installed on my LX, I bought it seperately. I didn't want to drill holes in the trunk floor to install the four posts, but I did install the side posts through the wall of the trunk liner. The net is in hammock mode right now.

What I'm thinking about now is to get a tray, then secure some thin plywood to the underside. I can screw the posts through the tray into the plywood using much shorter screws than the ones that came with the net. Some silicone caulk would seal the holes to prevent liquid from escaping.

Now that my payments have kicked in, I'm a little short on funds to get the tray. I'll keep it on my wish list though ;)

wow sounds like a lot of work, heh.

yeah they won't work together... my trunk tray actually doesn't fit as snugly as i wanted it to.. anyone else notice that ?? i still have the cargo net suspended from the sides.. haven't had much use for it yet. i'm thinking if whatever is in there is heavy enough it won't go too far anyway
