After nothing but DC and MC for 26k, went with PP today!

Just wanted to let everyone know I decided to change out the MC at around 5200 miles today to Pennzoil Platinum 5w-20. After speaking to a senior parts guy who said I could use an S2000 filter and after examining a few there, I went with that one. I was awestruck by its size, workmanship and the big Made in Japan on the wrapper and it was only 3 bucks and change more then the regular FRAM Honda filter I get. Anyway, I am super happy just to get that decision out the way and be able to rub elbos with all you full synthetic guys. I just drove home and because it is a different oil, I have to give it a lot of miles to evaluate but the early markers look good.

Engine seemed quieter on startup and in general and my litnus test of seeing how cool the car is running is to turn on the vent on cool without the AC button on and see if it blows cold air when the car is fully warm. It did so I am happy with the "early " returns so far.

This was the tougest decision I have made in my life, car-wise simply because the MC was *that good* but ultimately, the lure of better FE, upcoming although allready present warm weather impending and the V6 is in general a warm application led me to my decision to forsake dino oil for good and enter the realm of full synthetic! After almost 27 thousand miles on dino and dino blends, my car today got it's first taste of full synthetic and I couldn't be more content for it. Protection is priceless!

More BS "tests" that show absolutely nothing about oil. BTW, I know who you are :lmao:

Not a fan of Penzoil. Mobil 1 for me.

Hey the best oil I have "experienced" so far out of Mobil dino, Mobil semi-synthetic and Motorcraft has been Motorcraft. Although I can't say the DCs didn't have a hand in contributing to MCs stellar performance in my Accord but nonetheless, MC is real good. I only used MC for the one OCI as I originally foretold and just put that PP in today because I need the PP for more protection for the V6 and do a lot of racing.type applications without actually going to the track. You could try M1 too if you want to pay 6 bucks or more per quart but I got the PP for about 3 bucks a qt using the BOGOF at AAP.

Forgot to mention, the usually disgruntled peanut gallery at the dealer "among others" were good enough to yield one beasty S2000 filter. Great move at the perfect mileage(26k) for full synthetic on a completely broken in MMC Accord V6 with DC and MC. If the DC and MC was the rising action, the PP is the climax.. :lmao: the 'rest' is just denoument(sp?, falling action). :lmao: I got nothing but up to 7 thousand miles of worry-free operation is all a boy needs.. the rest is well... :lurk:

Since we know who you are and know where you live, I’ll give you a tip, you can buy S2000 filters at Goodson Honda parts on the Katy Freeway in bulk, (five) for I believe $5.00 each. I’ve been running the S2000 filter with 5W-20 PP and 10,000 mile change intervals. If I remember, all 5W-20 are at least semi-synthetic motor oils? I run the Motocraft 5W-20 oil in my daughters 2000 5-speed manual Focus.

I also enjoyed your “litmus test”, quite entertaining! So when are you going to Baytown (HRWP) for your 15.30 ET? Let me know if you’d like some pointers on “legal” drag racing. I have a few (Hundred) passes under my belt and out of the grace of my heart would be willing to show you how to do it the right way.

I heard some reports that the ECM needs to be reflashed right out of the box, and that the calibration changes when you move the seat
