I'm new to the forum but have already caught the bug. Although everyone is posting pics of their 03's and 04's, I figured I'd put up a quick pic of my 00'. She's in great shape and I'm proud of her! :D

Yeah she's pretty clean all around...obviously this isn't a close-up that can show the little imperfections all cars have...but since I'm in the south (and was in FL before MS), I've always kept a nice coat of wax on it to protect it from the intense heat and sunlight we get. But the car does have only a few marks that are minimal at best.
I have been trying to read up on some of the posts about exterior car care because there are some spots on the front...ie baked on bugs and pit marks from kicked up rocks that I can't seem to fix. There are also some water spots I can't get off the roof even with the wax. I have heard a little about claybars (from Inspector's post), but don't know much about them or if they can help...I was actually going to ask for a little insight;) Princess is definitely right though, it is a lot harder to maintain the emerald green...or dark colors versus the silver!
Luckily for me, I'm living on an Air Force base right now. I don't know if it's a military thing or not, but it seems like the parking spots on base are much wider than most I've seen?? Have had no complaints about dings from other cars. Only the biggest of trucks have a chance to leave a mark. Either way, I have been lucky. The best part is I just closed on my first house today and I'm going to love having the car in a garage! Then again it makes me feel like I'm getting older...eh...but that's a whole different thing right??...Anyway, that's all for now...see ya!

Welcome! Nice car! I love the 6th gen sedans! :D
Lucky you! Not many parking lot dings yet! I've had my fair share on my past Civic's. So far, none on the 04 Accord though! Knock on wood!;)

A beauty!
What do you do in the USAF? My prince was a U2 tech......long time ago....

Yeah I love the 6th Gen Accords as well. I think it's an all-around great looking car. I like the new 7th gens but have had a tough time trading up to one because of the nose...I just can't warm up to it for some reason. The one thing I will miss is the manual transmission. Not only did honda finally pony up and mate it to their V6s, but they made it a 6-spd. At the time, the smoothness and extra power of the V6 was more important to me than the MT. Had I known that I would have waited! :bawling:
It's great to hear that there are fellow military around the forum as well (Princess). The U-2 is an awesome jet. I'm not sure if your prince knows...but the U-2s just got a complete avionics upgrade. They now have a full glass ****pit...may want to tell him, I'm sure he'll be happy! ;) As for me, I just completed the Air Force's undergraduate pilot training program. I'll be staying here for three more years as an instructor pilot. It's an awesome job, I just need to get used to the area...it's not the nicest of places to be, and a giant leap back in time coming from Daytona Beach. I miss civilization! I'm getting used to it more and more though...the people are great and nothing beats southern hospitality! So I guess it's not that unbearable. Yeah FL didn't spoil me right??

Yeah, I know what you mean about the nose of the 7th gen's! I kind of wish the headlights were somewhere between the size they are and the size of the 6th gen's, and maybe shaped more rectangular like the 6th gens.... It's the one thing I'm not 100% entirely in love with about my car! (I have the coupe and love the back and sides though!! :D ) The rear of the 7th gen sedans hasn't finished growing on me yet though! Something about the taillights is just awkward to get used to. But that was the same thing I didn't ever quite get used to about the 6th gen coupes too. And the 7th gen sedan's rear seems to be somewhat similar to the 6th gen coupe.
The v6 wasn't in my budget, but I desperately wanted a 7th gen coupe, so I opted for the 5 spd mt. If the v6 was in my budget, I sadly would've gotten an at.... I'm just learning how to drive an mt and I've heard so many stories about how much more diffifcult it is to learn on a 6spd, that I would've been scared away! :sorry:

CSFly99,
Wasn't the "upgrade" done when they started calling them TR-1's? We were at Beale for 3 of the 4 years in. He did do a TDY in Korea for a couple of months. When we were at Beale the SR-71's were there too. I loved watching those take off at night. All the different colors of the afterburner were awesome! I got so I knew the sound of "his" plane when it was coming or going. We loved the life, just went on with other things.
We've been watching for an open house or airshow at Beale, but they haven't had any for a while. Probably just busy with national security issues.
Although it's been a VERY long time....I had to learn a bunch about the 1 & 2 engine jets too.....someone had to help him study! The U2's weren't what he was tested on, of course.
Which planes do you fly?
Anyway, your car looks great. I DID trade from an '02 V6 EXL to the '03, with no regrets. The headliner was better in the '02, as was the type of leather used. I do agree that the front had some getting used to, but it has grown on me quickly! I wanted the Nav, so I HAD to trade!

Many many moons ago I lived on Okinawa (my father was in the Marine Corps, and I was in Kindergarten). Even though I still remember the SR-71's going over our house, what a jet!!!! they were soo loud I remember the house shaking as they went over it. There it was called the Haboo (SP?) named after a very deadly snake on the island.

Yeah the SR-71s are pretty cool planes...too bad they had to be retired, there aren't too many things left on earth that can fly faster than a bullet. And those "mach rings" were a pretty damn cool site! As for the TR-1s, I heard that was an upgrade given to most of the U-2s that were going to NASA. They did get an upgrade earlier but it wasn't the complete change. Now they have newer avionics instead of the traditional TACAN/INS, etc....and now their ****pits are complete glass. But I am by no means the expert on the aircraft. Your prince probably knows more about that stuff than I do. I was just reading one of our latest air force magazines (all this info is unclassified:thmsup: ), and it was showcasing the new features. Insead of the traditional "steam guages," all the flight information the pilot needs is presented on four LCDs driven by a flight management computer. I just figured I'd pass the info on to a prior tech. I know many of them remain curious as to what is going on with their "babies." It's nice to know they plan to use them for many more years.
As for me, I'm flying the T-1A right now. It is a new Air Force training jet used in SUPT. It's a great aircraft with a full glass ****pit and computer aided flight system like the U-2. It's great to give students an idea of the types of systems they will be using later on in their careers. Unfortunately for us, we are not told what our follow-on aircraft will be once our instructor tour is up...we just get to wait and hope :dunno:
Anyway yeah it would be great to have the NAV and the 240-hp engine instead of the 200, but I got a great deal on this car and it's in really nice shape. I think I'm going to hang on to it for quite some time. She's only got 52,000 miles, so there is a lot of life left. My only fear is that I only drive a few miles each day to and from work. And since everything is so close around here, we don't do too much driving even when we go out. Unless I go on a trip I don't put more than 50 miles on a week. I hope I'm not doing too much damage in the long run. When I do hit the highway, I try to give her a nice workout to make up for it....don't know if it's doing much?? Any ideas if there is any extra maintenance or care I can do to make up for it??
Thanks
-Chris

Just follow the "severe" list for the maintaince & you should be fine.
Yeah, he does miss his "babies"!:) That's why we're watching for an open house in our old stomping ground.
His TDY was in Osan (sp?).... I think they called the U2's "black cats" there & "dragon lady" at home......but it was a VERY long time ago. A SR-71 had an emergency landing there when he was there. So the U2 guys had to get it down & in a hanger that wasn't made for it. At home they were "blackbirds" I don't remember what they were called while away. :)

Thanks for the info. I looked in the owner's manual and realized I have actually followed most of the severe maintenance schedules. I will continue to do this until I start driving the car more often.
I will be going to San Antonio for a TDY at the end of this month so the car should get a workout then (I don't know if I'm going to have an internet connection there...I may be away from the forum until the beginning of November:( ). But I'll let ya know how things work out.
Oh, and yes, it is Osan, you were right. ;) And I'm not sure what the Blackbirds were called when they were off station either. Oh well :)
