My girlfriend just got a 2002 Accord Coupe EX. The seller only had one master key and a valet key, so I need to get myself one. The problem is that I really like the new style keys with the keyless entry remote built in. What I was wondering is if the newer remotes will work with the older keyless entry system.

Is there anyone who can test it?

Is there anyone who can test the new acura TL keyless entry remote (I really like those switchblade style ones).

Thanks!

You'd have to swap out the key FYI.

The Blanks are completely different.

yeah, I know that. I found a good idea online: machine the new key blank to fit the only key. I've got access to all that stuff at school.

Will the key blank in the key fob itself for the '03 and up models not be good enough for the '02 modles? is the key itself a different thickness or length? i would honestly love to have the key fob w/the key in it as well, and i've got an '02 accord v6 coupe. love to know! thanks!

I was wondering the same thing. Like could I get a switchblade remote and use it for my 2000 Honda Accord

Yes, I believe the newer remotes can be programmed to work with your GF's car. The "switchblade" keys also work. However, you will find that the "switchblade" keys are fragile (with the case prone to break), they will wear out your pants pocket, and they are rather expensive. (When my dealer quoted me $75 + tax, END of that discussion.) A "T5" spare key, reproduced using my master key, cost me a mere $20.87.
