Silver Bird Poop Magnet

Hi all,

I recently bought a 2001 EX sedan in silver. I swear to god, I have never had to clean so much bird poop in my life. I am parking in the same spots that I used to park my old car and am getting easily 8 to 10 times as much poop as before. I did a couple searches on this forum and came up with a couple references to this phenomenon but I am curious if others have had the same experience.

In the long run though, my real question is... what would be a good solution/product to carry in my trunk in a spray bottle with a roll of paper towels for removing said bird bombs as they are discovered. I hate having a nice shiny silver car with a nice big white and black poop on the hood. So far I have been just using paper towels with a bit of warm water, but I want something that I can keep in the trunk. I want something that will easily and safely clean the poop, but not be too harsh on my finish.

mild soap solution?
plain water?
quick detailer?
other?

thanks!

You might look into WetPaint...

Curious what wax/sealant are you using?

I haven't even washed this thing yet. I've had it less that 2 weeks. Was going to wash it this weekend, but the weather and a sick wife made that slightly less than possible.

I have been looking into wet paint. Sounds pretty good.

I found that Meguiars Gold Class seems to attract a lot more bugs than anything else I've ever tried...maybe birds like it too...but I haven't had any birdpoop but I park in covered garages all the time.

different story here.
I got bunch of bird poop but it's because I parked under a big tree (I can't even see the bird)
the car next to me which is black got the worst ever bird poop, it's all over :D
when I parked somewhere else in the area, no bird bomb at all.

Any of those you mentioned would be good choices. You don't want to let the bird crap sit on your car for too long, otherwise it'll eat through your clearcoat and damage your paint.

Water would be cheapest solution. Soap and water mixture would be better.

My friend carries a spray bottle with water, a clay bar, bottle of QD and a Micro Fiber towel. If the water alone doesn't clean it up well enough, he uses the clay bar, QD, and MF towel.

I should mention that I too have silver paint and haven't noticed excessive bird crap on my car. The only time was when I was coming home from work and was stopped at a red light trying to make a right. All of a sudden, I hear thump thump thump thump on the roof. Thought someone was throwing rocks at me. When I get home, I notice that my roof was all covered in black bird poop. I immediately washed the car that day.

Carry a 50/50 mix of water and white vinegar in a sprayer and a MF towel.... Works well on water spots also ;-)

Here's what I keep in the car for bugs and flying berry munching poopers:

A couple of MF towels and you're ready for the whole flock! Inspector 1 turned me on to this stuff a few years back and I won't be without it. Perfect for a lightly soiled car too.

I am in silver and am not subject to the "poop phenomena"
