Hi guys...I bought an AM/FM double din size radio on EBay. It came from a 2000 Accord Ex sedan and I want to put it in a 2000 Accord LX sedan. I will get the radio code from the seller. I currently have a single din AM/FM cassette head unit with a pocket underneath.
I have printed out the instructions from this site re: 2000 Accord Indash CD Changer LX to give me the general idea. However, I am a complete moron when it comes to projects like this - my expertise stops at splash guards and wiper inserts. But when my dealer quoted me $120 to install a radio I paid $70 for, I knew I had to take the challenge.
Here are my questions:
1. Should I anticipate any compatibility issues re: wiring harness?
2. The third step says to remove the ash tray, and I don't have one - now what? Are there screws somewhere else?
3. Assuming I make it to step 4. and 5. (removing clock above radio), are there any tricks to prying this out? Which direction to pry?
4. Now the key to the whole job - any pointers on removing retaing clips, retaining tabs, etc.?
I think I can handle the rest - all nuts and bolts and screws.
For those of you who have done this - is it possible or should I give up before I start?
Thanks for any advice.
