: Odometer color
Unity1 07-22-2004, 04:12 PM On Honda's website for the Accord, when they show the instrument cluster, it looks different than in my Accord. The odometer numbers are blue on the website instead of the very pale amber-ish they are on mine and the speedometer has a slightly different color scheme.
Does anyone's 2003+ Accord instrument cluster look like the one on the website?

Is there a way to change it to look like that? I happen to like the bluish look of the instrument cluster on the Honda website more. Maybe this is something unique to Accords with the Navigation system?
It's just a small detail that I noticed. I'm a very detail-oriented person. :)
mreloc 07-22-2004, 04:31 PM Hmmmmm...... mine looks like the website. Bluish white- no amber. 04 EXL 5 spd w/o Navi
mattdalt 07-22-2004, 05:11 PM mine looks more like a grey with white numbers
04 exl 4 cyl

Unity1 07-22-2004, 06:03 PM Maybe it's an EX thing.
anysia 07-23-2004, 03:28 AM mine's amber-04 ex coupe
the one on the website resembles the one in my old civic more....
i wish mine was the blueish/grayish. i liked that better! :(
maybe it's a difference between sedans and coupes? just another possibility. or, wait, no, thatwouldn't be. i have a coupe, you have a sedan.... both are amber.
where was everyone's manufactured?? mine was ohio.
04EXNavi 07-23-2004, 07:55 AM Maybe it has to do with the build date...I'm not sure what mine is, but the display seems more white than amber.
Or... the photographers might have used filters to bring out more 'blue' in the display. The Honda shots of the instruments seem a lot bluer than mine do.
Unity1 07-23-2004, 08:01 AM Yeah, amber is a big exaggeration of what color it is.
On mine it's definitely not like the picture.
The backlighting is not blue like in the picture.
04EXNavi 07-23-2004, 08:04 AM The background on mine is black...I think it's a camera filter or something.
I was wondering about the same thing a few weeks ago, so don't think it's just you!
jbuffethed 07-28-2004, 06:13 PM here is mine
Unity1 07-28-2004, 07:16 PM That's almost exactly like mine.... except your odometer and it's backlighting looks more bluish-white.
I'll take a picture tomorrow for comparison.
jbuffethed 07-28-2004, 07:22 PM the backlighting is very white, my camera missinterprets the color
04EXNavi 07-29-2004, 04:36 AM That's jsut how mine looks...the arc around the dials is yellowish...in the Honda photo, it's all blue. It would be nice if it looked like the photo, but what are you gonna do?

Probably nothing can be done, unfortunately.
Try looking at the instrument cluster at the angle of the picture on the Honda website. This might change the color. Another thing I noticed is the instrument cluster on Honda's website is for an automatic, the other instrument cluster posted looks like it is for a manual (i.e., no gear selection indicator). Maybe Auto's and manuals have different instrument clusters.
Unity1 07-29-2004, 07:16 AM Mine has the gear select on the cluster like in the picture from Honda's site... because it's an automatic.
anysia 07-29-2004, 09:40 AM so mine (i think) looks like jbuffethed's pic.
to see if it's a difference in the manual versus automatic, who here has which one and which pic does your's match???
mine's manual/jbuffethed's pic
anysia 07-29-2004, 02:15 PM Mine is almost all amber-should've stuck with my first instinct! Pretty close to the color of the needles actually (not as bright as the needles)..... Gawd, I guess I don't pay enough attention!! It took me getting into the car this afternoon to realize I was wrong and it doesn't seem to match jbuffethed's!!
If I can get my sis over here with her camera this weekend, I'll get a pic and post it. :blah:
Oh I think it was the numbers that were white, but I better go downstairs and check that later before anyone holds me to that!
princess 08-01-2004, 05:05 PM Mine is the white-ish color for the miles & the greenish color for the kilometers like pictured by Buff'. Could be "amber", but with the smoked plastic looks more green to me....just like the white has a blue-gray look though it too.
anysia 08-17-2004, 12:00 PM i promised this ages ago.... here's mine: (sorry it's a bit fuzzy, just bought the camera today, so i'm still trying to figure it out!)
princess 08-17-2004, 12:39 PM Does it look that orange in person??
anysia 08-17-2004, 12:42 PM yep, that's a fairly accurate representation of the colors! blurry, but the colors are that! which explains why i so thrown trying to place my dash in amongst the other pics!
BenjiBoy650 08-17-2004, 02:07 PM It's too dark. See if you can place it on the top of the steering wheel to take a picture. My suggestion is that you also use the delay feature if you have it, where the camera will take the picture 2 or 3 seconds after you've pressed the shutter button. If you have this feature, turn it on, then put the camera on the steering wheel, click the button to take a picture, remove your hands from the camera and don't move for a few seconds, and that should do the trick for a nice clear pic :)
anysia 08-17-2004, 02:41 PM great tip benji!! here's a much clearer pic!
:D
Manzilla 08-17-2004, 06:18 PM Two door models have that cluster. The 4 door sedan has the other that was pictured earlier.
10ring 08-18-2004, 10:10 AM I have an 04 coupe, and my mother in law has the 04 sedan. Hers is the more amber color, and mine is more like the one in the Honda photo at the top. Weird.
anysia 08-18-2004, 10:46 AM so yours is more like the one from the honda website? is yours a manual or automatic?
the mystery is never going to be solved at this rate!
10ring 08-18-2004, 11:10 AM I'm in a manual. I should clarify that it isn't identical to the Honda pic, but much more like that than the other more amber looking gauge.
anysia 08-18-2004, 11:18 AM mine's an 04 ex coupe, mt, but with cloth interior....
ok, who has cloth and who has leather????
this is becoming personal! i feel compelled to figure out what determines which dash you have!
10ring 08-18-2004, 11:19 AM I've got leather & XM. Could one of those things make the difference? Also, are they built in more than one location?
anysia 08-18-2004, 11:35 AM i'm guessing they're built in more than one location... my 2000 civic was built in ohio, my 2003 civic was built in canada. my accord was built in ohio. i know there were differences between the tires used based on where they were built (regardless of trim level), so i guess dash color could change too....
ok, so will a dealership let me go sit in multiple accords on their lot just to see the colors of the dashes?!?! this is driving me insane! :D
if it's a leather versus cloth thing, i would've paid extra for leather just to get the less orange dash!! ;)
princess 08-18-2004, 01:17 PM I started a poll for you, maybe we'll find the pattern.....
anysia 08-18-2004, 01:36 PM cool, i was thinking i should do that!! thanks princess! hey, have fun on your road trip!!! :D
BenjiBoy650 08-18-2004, 05:00 PM Well I think there may be actually 4 Accord plants, 2 in the USA, one in Canada, and one in Japan. I'm not sure if I'm right though, check the window sticker! It might be due to this difference in build location or also more likely a difference in gauge suppliers :)
10ring 08-18-2004, 08:14 PM So , I was looking again. My guages are just like the Honda pic but instead, my tic marks are Red.
04blkpearlcoupe 08-25-2004, 01:38 AM this is interesting. mine doesnt look like any of the pics so far. on mine the needles are red, the ticks are red and the numbers are white...
