Not the EPA rated mileage, but ACTUAL mileage calculated today was 29.15mpg!

WOO HOO!!!

Miles driven was 336.5, and gallons of gas used was 11.543. I'm a normally a spirited driver being that I'm a performance truck addict. To hop in the AV6, and get what the EPA rates as maximum in any vehicle is shocking to me. BTW, I drive on 50 miles of highway to/from work everyday with the cruise control set to 78mph. I'm still excited because I've tried this in my wife's car (exact same make & model), and could only get 27.6 with same type of driving & A/C usage. Oh... tires were inflated to OEM specs. :lmao:

That's why I am buying a 4 cylinder. In my area, there aren't many opportunities to really run out the car. I was running premium, and a heavy car with a V6

Not with gas aimed at $4 a gallon :naughty:

I get 350miles per most tanks.. but its more like 14gals..so 24mpg is my good average..on my 07 V6

Congrats!

I know gas gauges fluctuate a bit but I get a steady 200miles on 1/2 tank - I've been applying some common sense techniques and I got home and am on 1/2 and have 282 miles!! My best 1/2 tank ever has been 235 - can't wait to see what it'll be after I fill up tomorrow!

This is like me with the 4200lb 'compact' Mercedes. I get about 23.5mpg according to the computer though!

Filled the V6 up again yesterday...28.7 mpg. Much better than the prior one, but not as good as the three before that. Not complaining though.

This is by far better than my sprited average of 26mpg. The fun part for me is that in my '02 SE (4cyl), I could only get 28.6mpg of an EPA-rated 30mpg driving under similar conditions (dry, summer heat & same driving distance). I got better mileage, plus in a V6. I don't know about getting more than 30, but maybe if my tires were over-inflated it would be possible. Not willing to allow uneven wear & tear to find out. Good to see that others are getting higher than the EPA-rated numbers!

Your car does not weigh 4200lbs.

Just wait until his car breaks in it just might be getting that. His commute is 50 mile highway shouldn't be a problem.

35+ is easy in the V6 and I've done it.

Actually, the Acura MDX I'm driving does very well. My last tank was 26.2 and that was about 60% highway.

I've put about 2k miles on the MDX....I'm falling in love....as it doesn't rattle...

I don't know if I'd say it's "easy". I probably have the longest and easiest commute a person could have, and I pretty much baby it the whole way, and I've only managed 30 two times. 30.1 and 30.4 to be exact. How did you manage 35?

altitude would factor into it if he was in the rockies....

he's in indiana.... :stupid: :lmao:

EDIT:

FYI, i was getting lower MPG when i went out west... i was averaging 20MPG when i was out in wyoming/colorado....

the mileage came back up to normal once i got to cruising speed (80mph) in kansas, with lower elevation....

i still think your calculating wrong or making up stories, seriously im not trying to flame you or anything but like i said before, even honda engineers couldnt get 30+ mpg on highway

The BEST tank I ever had on our 04 V6 was 30.9 mpg. But I could achieve 29-30 fairly regularly. I can't imagine that I would have ever gotten 35 mpg, because on my best tank, it was ALL highway driving and I only exited to get gas. I had the cruise control on, flat ground, was doing about 60 mph. I am not saying that it cannot be done, but I know on my 04 I could have never achieved it here in NC.

maybe the engineers couldn't do it cause the cars were still breaking the car in.

the v6 can get over 30mpg.... stevencrosbie gets over 30 in his 6spd TL normally....

When driving an old (1990 ish) 2litre petrol m/t VW Passat, I went from ave 32 mpg to ave 38+ mpg simply by starting off in 2nd gear, and changing straight into 5th at around 25 mph.. :naughty:

As my commute at the time (1995 ish) was fairly flat, 35 mile each way, and 95% Mway, I rarely used any of the other gears during the 6 months I drove that car. on one or two accasions it managed to ave mpg in the low 40's... :)

A LOT of people get 30+ in the V6, including princess, stevencrosbie, ezshift5, etc. Who are you to say they are all wrong :thumbsdow

And what source told you Honda engineer could not get 30+MPG? EPA could not get 30+MPG...then again they are an agency of airheads.

For my part, I know you can get 30+, because I've done it twice. And I've had several at over 29 mpg. But to say it's "easy" to get 35+ on the V6, especially in the AT but even with the MT, is hard for me to believe. Possible? I guess. Easy? I don't think so.

Aside from the altitude effect, which could probably make it possible, I can't see it being easy under normal and reasonable driving conditions at lower altitudes. Now if you're using some significant hypermiling techniques, well then...

Haiyter I know where you're coming from but I disagree that its due to BS claims or miscalculations. When I first started reading and posting on this DA forum I wasn't sure if some of the people around here were full of crap when it came to the kind of mileage they were getting, but as my mileage keeps improving I have no doubt that its definately legitmate.

My last two tanks were 34 and 35 in mixed driving, though my car is supposed average 28 in those conditions. Granted I take it pretty easy and I've taken some tips from people in this forum, but on the other hand I'm not the only one that drives this car and sometimes I'm stuck in some very conjested traffic. I have no doubt the 6cylinder can get in the mid thirties, especially with the commute the OP has.

One can always get a tankful here and there of outstanding mileage, and it can be caused by a number of variables working out favorably (fuel auto-cutoff filled the tank more the previous fill-up than this time is the biggest factor). The true test of mpg is over the course of multiple fill-ups.

That said, I also believe it's possible to get over 30mpg on 2 or 3 straight tankfuls on a long raod trip, though I've not personally seen it. What I HAVE seen on my EX-L V6 is consistent 25.8 to 26.2 mpg fill-up after fill-up on my daily commuting, which is about 75% highway.

Based on my experience with a '94 Legend GS 6-speed and my '99 540i 6-speed manuals, I would expect the Accord 6-speed/6MT V6 to deliver even better highway mileage by 1 or 2 mpg.

I top-off all the time, despite PSAs saying it's not recommended. Can only get 1/2 gallon more (at best), but can affect calculations by up to 1.11mpg. Good point tho.

26s are what I've consistently seen using my former spirited driving methods.

We'll see what the average is over the month of June. Temps climb higher, and rain increases. I'll let ya know. But, with humidity in the 90 percentile, and temps in the mid-80s, I don't see my gas mileage getting any better. Harder working engine burns more fuel. My car now has 7700 miles on it, and it's only 3 months old.

You've certainly got a point about the 6M........(V-6)

Since your in Markham you are buying imperial gallons.
The imperial gallon has 4.5 litres versus the US which is smaller
and has only 3.8 litres. If you convert your mileage to per litre
you are only getting 5.33 miles per litre or 20.25 miles per
US gallon.Therfore the person getting 35 miles to a US gallon
is getting 70% better mileage than you.How do you explain this
difference in mileage.Maybe the person who gets 35mpg is going
downhill or using some sort of space age slippery wax,or my wife
is cheating on me and she's in your car(Very big woman). If thats
the case you can keep her.
The best I've done was just over 700km.If I was to get 35miles for every
3.8 litres that would put me somewhere near 1000km.That would match
and beat the diesel jetta's claim of 1000km per tank.
I don't think I can ever get close to 35mpg,at least not on this
planet.

I average 28mpg in my 6mt sedan. I have alot of turns and elevation changes in my commute of 125miles per day. Not bad. Even when I'm really running her off and on i've never gotten below 26.5 mpg.

I'm averaging 28.9 mpg in my 6MT. I use cruise control, shift around 2k-2.5k rpms, drive in the highest gear possible, do the speed limit. Sadly, it's doing the speed limit that kind of kills it. From Arlington to Mt. Vernon the speed limit is 70 mph, prior to that it's 60 mph. Thankfully I have no stop and go traffic to really deal with. But I do have some slight hills.

I took a picture of the Navi computer from the last time I drove the car. It said averaging 36.4 mpg on that tank so far.

1 tank of 31 mpg (came really close to getting 2 tanks)
7 tanks of 30 mpg
17 tanks at 29 mpg
12 tanks at 28 mpg
5 tanks at 27 mpg
3 tanks at 26 mpg
1 tank at 25 mpg (Completely inaccurate, though. I filled up twice within 10 minutes. The first fuel pump didn't work properly, and kept shutting off, I thought I'd gotten as much gas as it would take in it. When I gave up and started the car, it showed it was an 1/8th of a tank from being full. The second fuel pump did work correctly, though. It really messed up the gas mileage numbers, though. After the two separate fuel ups it averaged 25.9 mpg, the Nav computer read 29.6 mpg. I'm thinking I probably got closer to 26-27 mpg)

I think I'm good for at least 32 mpg, just need to drive at 60 mph, or at least 99% highway, instead of 80% highway. Although I'd say those numbers are pretty darn good, considering I generally have a few spirited visits to VTEC per tank.

I was thankful to get 29.8 mpg when I filled up in early May. The beginning of that tank I was driving in 1st gear up to 35 mph. Driving spirited for a driving school. Imagine what I'd have gotten if I was driving conservatively for that whole tank.
