View Full Version : Got TL Rims For My 2007 Accord VP Foreign_Wide 05-31-2007, 06:11 PM Nailed 4 for $355, drove to Connecticut to pick them up. dohcivtec 05-31-2007, 06:19 PM sweet take pics of it when it got some tires and its on the car  Foreign_Wide 05-31-2007, 06:28 PM Need advice as to what tires to buy. :notworthy P235/45R17 93W is the size for a 2005 TL, so I think I will be going along with it. This should give me the same approximate overall tire/wheel diameter as I have right now. I want all season tires, with good performance in rain a top priority. I will be using the stock steelies and wheel covers for the snow. Any opinions about Pirelli P6 Four Seasons? andysinnh 05-31-2007, 07:34 PM Any opinions about Pirelli P6 Four Seasons? So the wife's new Ford Freestyle Limited has these tires on them - size is p225-60R18 - after 1700 miles, here are some observations: - Rain traction very good - Dry traction decent - Noise level pretty high - They flat-spot after sitting just for an hour or so - takes about 2 miles to get smooth - Relatively smooth spinning tire - Cornering is OK, but if you push 'em you can get some noise out of 'em For me, if you're gonna run the OEM tires/wheels in the winter, I'd look at some of the Bridgestone or Michelin tires - may have better 3-season characteristics than the Pirelli's... andy joerockt 05-31-2007, 09:49 PM Pimpin. Make sure you change out those center caps. 2006AS 06-01-2007, 06:35 AM As for tires the Falken Ziex 512's are a great bargain, but don't last too long. Probably wont get much more than 30-35k miles from them. If you want a tire that will last a little longer the Yokohama YK520 is a great tire. I personally will be installing the 512's on my car tomorrow along with HFP wheels. I went with a 215/50/17 size because my wheels are only 7" wide. Foreign_Wide 06-01-2007, 12:35 PM Pimpin. Make sure you change out those center caps. :lmao: My son is urging me to leave the Acura centers on it! Actually, I saw the Honda centers on the 17" OEM alloy. It had a chrome "H" logo on a silver background that I liked looks like this wheel http://www.hubcaphaven.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=HC&Product_Code=1956&Category_Code=400 Think that will fit? Foreign_Wide 06-01-2007, 11:31 PM Yeah yeah yeah, no "Star Trek" emblems for my Honda :lmao: . Foreign_Wide 06-02-2007, 08:34 AM Naturally I have been considering lug nuts for the new TL rims. I couldn't wait and test fitted a TL rim to the front of my Accord, just to see. The VP has plastic wheel covers which are held on by...................chrome lug nuts! Now for wheel locks! 2006AS 06-02-2007, 06:15 PM ...Now for wheel locks! I have a set of like new Honda wheel locks. They were put on my car at the dealer and I promptly removed them when I got the car home. $20 shipped or you can come pick them up, but you will probably spend more in tolls and gas...lol. I reconsidered and am getting them elsewhere randy1515 06-07-2007, 06:35 AM do you think you can get away with a 245/45/17 tire it is almost the same size as the stock one's on a ex-l... what do you think.... GAZH13 06-07-2007, 02:04 PM Just wondering what size tires you went with and if it changed your mileage much? Also did you get your speedo changed for the different size rims? One more thing if you did get your speedo changed how did you do it?Would like to change the stock tire and rims on my wifes 06 Accord VP but would like to keep the gas mileage the same. Any input would be appreciated. SatinSilver 06-15-2007, 08:00 AM I look forward to seeing some pics of your VP with the TL rims..sounds like a great match! Any input would be appreciated. I get kind of analytical when I do things. The speedometer reads wheel rotation. The designer essentially says that a given diameter wheel has to turn so many revolutions to cover a mile. With that as a calibrated given, the speedometer only has to measure how fast the wheel is turning. The result is displayed as "miles per hour." The key is the overall diameter of the given wheel. The rim diameter can be increased, but the "height" of the sidewall has to be decreased to wind up with the same overall diameter as the OEM wheel/tire combo. The original equipment VP tire/wheel combo is 24.9 inches. To preserve speedometer accuracy, I am looking to wind up with a new tire/rim combo that is as close as possible to that spec. These are the specs for the 195 65 HR15, OEM Tire on the 2007 Accord VP http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.jsp?make=Bridgestone&model=Turanza+EL41&partnum=965HR5EL41&vehicleSearch=true&fromCompare1=yes&place=26 Note that the overall diameter is 24.9 and the "revolutions per mile" is 837 These are the specs for the 235/45 ZR17, OEM tire on the 2005 Acura TL http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.jsp?make=Bridgestone&model=Potenza+RE030&partnum=345WR7RE030&vehicleSearch=true&fromCompare1=yes&place=20 Note that the overall diameter is 25.5 and the "revolutions per mile" is 817 The difference in overall diameter seems small enough to not materially affect the speedometer reading. When I subtract 817 from 837 I get 20 revolutions per mile. 20 over 837 = .02389, which would seem to be an insignificant change in the speedometer reading, which would be ever so slightly "under." In my opinion, this might be within the range of changing the speedometer reading by virtue of under vs. overinflated tires. I was going to go with the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Potenza+RE960AS+Pole+Position but, a friend of mine in the tire business talked me into Continental ContiExtremeContact which has a better treadwear rating and much lower cost http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Continental&tireModel=ContiExtremeContact Foreign_Wide 06-15-2007, 09:36 AM do you think you can get away with a 245/45/17 tire it is almost the same size as the stock one's on a ex-l... what do you think.... You probably could get away with it since the change is slight. I am assuming you already have these tires, or can get them as a "deal." If not, then why not get the tires that are spec'd for the rim? That would seem like the "can't miss" way to go. |
