princess 08-02-2004, 08:01 AM Ok, who's got 'em?
Did you remove it??
Is it the chrome looking kind or the decale?
We don't have them here much, but we sure noticed that cars from other places do!
benjamming 08-02-2004, 09:58 AM Sure did on the lower left area of the decklid right below the tail lights. It's a black decal & our car is black.
I haven't taken it off yet, but plan on it in the next few weeks.
Inspector1 08-02-2004, 10:15 AM None on either vehicle... The previous vehicles have had them plus license plate frames.. If a dealer wants to pay me for advertisement I would consider leaving them on... but thats highly unlikely.... The vinyl one on wifes old Volvo came off as soon as it came home... Thank goodness for heat guns....
License plate frames come off immediately also...
I1:)
Pairallel 08-02-2004, 11:41 AM All dealers in NJ use plate frames (front and rear), and some add decals to that!
Not only do I take mine off as soon as I get home, I insist that all my friends allow me to remove theirs - free of charge, of course....:blah:
Wolffit 08-02-2004, 02:14 PM I removed my dealer-supplied free advertising when I got my permanent plates. My dealership gives you a free [sic] license plate frame and also sticks a decal on the right rear corner of the trunklid - fortunatly it doesn't use any extreme adhesive, so it was easy to get off without leaving a bunch of gunk behind.
Next time I'll have to remember to charge the dealership for the advertising, or make them remove it. :}
princess 08-02-2004, 03:29 PM Here it's just frames & plate inserts. I was surprised how common it is elsewhere! Nearly every car from all over the place parked at WDW had some sort of dealer badge!
Being in a rental Olds, I was so jealous of the Accords I saw! That Olds wasn't comfy, it was gutless, it was small.... We had to put the seat down to put the big suitcase in the trunk!
got one of those plastic chrome name badges on the back. how do i get rid of it? i dont want to advertise the place for free.
snakehair 08-03-2004, 02:43 AM Here in Maryland the dealer has to remove decals et al if requested. I told the dealer that I would allow the decals after a year if the dealer service was up to par. Sadly, they didn't rate an endorsment by me, but recent changes have led to improved customer service.

Dental floss or fishing line... then goo gone to remove adhesive.
I1:)
anysia 08-03-2004, 03:40 AM i have tried to avoid dealerships where they do. some around here have even been known to use paint (htankfully no honda dealers to my knowledge!)
all 3 dealers i've bought cars from usually stick you with the plate frame (the first one was actually decent and got me discounts on oil changes, so i left it on, the second was crappy and cheap, so it came right off). the one i bought my latest from didn't give me a plate frame because in my salesguy's words he "knew i'd drive around the corner and take it off", so he just put my w&j alumni one back on for me (the replacement frame for the second and crappy dealer!) gotta love my latest dealership as far as dealers go! :D

thanks! :D
my1staccord 08-03-2004, 06:44 AM When I bought my car I told the dealer that he could put the plate frame on, but I didnt want to have any other advertising on my car. I did this previously with my truck as well and both dealers didnt give me a hard time about it. Ask before you purchase the car and it will save you from having to remove it later!! :)
fearlessfreap24 08-05-2004, 05:39 AM mine is a decal. it is not bad looking though. will post pic later.
Coil99 09-16-2004, 08:37 AM None on mine - asked the dealer not to put them on.
feferic 09-16-2004, 02:33 PM Mine is a decal. The honda dealer here is really good - so i wear mine with pride. (weird, I know)

No, I can understand if it is a good dealer.
(EDIT: Although, the dealer we use is good too...but I just didn't want the badge on the car.)
jbuffethed 10-02-2004, 03:15 PM You can see whats left of my dealer vinyl in my sig. It did say "HONDA TOWN OF NEW ORLEANS" I just modified it, but my wife wants me to remove the rest I thought is was funny. :lmao:
benjamming 10-02-2004, 05:42 PM I removed the dealer ad today. It came off pretty good. A little bit of glue gunk residue. I'll take care of that next weekend. It needs waxing under there as well.
