Order the paint from paint world, it matches pretty good. This was a fun little project, and it looks pretty good. It would look great on a light colored car where the black mudguard stands out even more than it did on my blue. Heres the pics:

looks good:thmsup:
i think it would only work on a darker collard car though.

Why?

Why?

I think with the kind of debris that hits the mud gaurds the paint would start to chip off and will probably show up more on lighter cars then darkers. JMO, but looks good,if I didn't have a blackcar I would really consider doing this

Why?

it would look odd on a light collard car, it would stick out too much.
blends in nice with a darker car though.

Matching the paint to the rest of the car would stick out:dunno:

Not trying to be an ass here just trying to understand the rationale.

To me the big issue is the ability for the paint to adhere to the mud guards long-term. They do flex a bit over time, especially if you bump one on a curb or something. My car is gold (see avitar) and the colored guards would look great - but if it started to come off, it'd be real noticible....

i know it is hard to explain. my explanations don't make total since:lmao:
but the mud flaps being black blends in with the tire and the road.
i don't even notice mine are there, but i would if they were painted silver like the car.

I actually agree with Motor City and think they would look better on a lighter colored car so the black doesnt stick out at all.

Andy - The paint is on top of a flexible primer, so that should take care of all your concerns about that. The paint adheres great.

yes but ur car would throw up rocks and such into ur "rock guards" as some call them... say on my car they would be white (and black underneath) the rocks would pelt the paint and chip it off... then there would be a white rock guard covered in little black spots... where as without them painted they sorta blend into the wheel wells and u dont really even notice them if ur not looking

^you dont have to paint the insides where the rocks hit..just the outsides

Yup, yup... my thoughts exactly.

mnky you gotts do this, I wanna see how it looks on silver. I am almost 100% going to do this. I just want to see what it looks like after about 600 miles. That's when major chippage started coming through on my grill mod before I re-did it.

Blue: How many miles do you have since you painted them.

ANYONE that has done this and has acumulated some mileage if you'd post some pics I'd really appreciate it.

I do an avg of 30k a year and don't have the desire to be constantly touching up chips!

I have a minimal amount of miles on mine Motor City. I think this would look really good on silver. I have maybe 30 miles on them and theyre fine. I dont see how the sides of it can get chipped, so I dont think you guys have anything to really worry about. Painting the inside of it would be instant chippage, but thats why you dont paint that. Ill keep you guys updated.

SteveV did it (http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?t=7858&highlight=mud+guard) a while back.

Definitely looks good.

You can PM him about durability.

I have a white vehicle and ordered the mudflaps from the dealer. I had them painted through a company the dealer uses and the dealer installed them. They looked really good in the beginning. The front still look brand new but the backs do start chipping around the edges. In the beginning I was able to keep up with the chipping using touch up paint but it just got worse and worse and now I need to just take them off. Also once the paint starts chipping off and the paint edges are raised a little every time you wash the car it makes it worse. If you use anything high powered to wash the car it'd probably take off bigger chunks. Just FYI. Oh and my car is an 02 w/83K miles.

I'll try to find my camera and gets some pics tomorrow if I have time.

^ Sand them down, order some paint from paintworldinc.com (http://paintworldinc.com/), and repaint them.

Did the place that painted them for you use a flexible base coat/primer? Did they clean the flaps before painting them to remove any thing that might prevent the paint from adhering to the plastic? Maybe that's why they chipped so easily. :dunno:
