View Full Version : got a card!

Yesterday I got an "anniversary" card from the dealer where I bought my Accord. This didn't happen with the '02 Accord or the Pilot. Although the Pilot's dealer did sent a couple of "thank you" notes & still communicates with us by mail.
Has anyone else got an anniversary or birthday card from their dealer???
They took my picture when I picked her up & they put that on the card. The car & I look different now!:)
I did with my ford truck. I bought the F150 from Stan Morri Ford in Tracy, CA, who still still sends me constant oil change reminders even though I haven't gotten an oil change done there in over 18 months. I got personal notes from Stan Morri himself on several occasions (including the 1 year "anniversary") thanking me for my purchase. I know it is a Honda Forum, but I highly recommend Morri Ford.

Never bought a new Honda here, but my uncle bought one in Malaysia. They sent him a birthday card. That's pretty much expected though, since Civic's cost $120K over there and the avg salary is around $2000 a month :)

Greg, we'll forgive the Ford plug....;)
The Honda dealer sent ME a birthday card in April. This one was for the car. Unfortunately everything they send has that stupid picture on it! Even the 2 year calendar! Which means I won't use it.
I ought to take a new picture of the car & email it to them & beg for them to use it instead!

The plug wasn't for the F-150 itself, only the dealership. That F-150 was the worst truck/vehicle I have ever owned. I bought it new in '02 and had way more than my share of trouble - at least for a two year old vehicle. Anyway, the truck has since been replaced with the Accord.

In that case........
;)
I think there's good & bad with all brands. My dad loved his old Fords trucks. Even though his brake master cyl. went out every 3 months or so for years on his last one! I hated it when I drove it & didn't know! I can tell you how many times I ran the stop sign at the end of our street!!! After that I knew I had to pump the pedal.:(
I've been very impressed with the extra touches by the dealer the '03 Accord was purchased at. Having dealt with 3 dealers in 2 years for new car purchases, this one wins the prize! So anyone in our area should check out Concord......

hmm, wonder if they would switch out the pic for ya? :D
that's nice that they sent that to you!!! my last 2 dealerships didn't send me anything... after the first year, they quit sending me the coupons for oil changes and stuff too! then i suddenly started getting them again once i traded each of those civic's in... weird.
wonder if my dealership will send me something?? (atleast i know it won't have a pic of me on it!:D) regardless, one of these days (maybe this coming week while i'm off of work) i think i'm going to head up there and see if the salesguy can give me some more lessons(or better yet a critique) on my driving so far! :D he offered more lessons if i needed them, but i haven't taken him up on it yet! ;) i feel like lately i've been holding the clutch too long at the friction point and he has a good eye for all that stuff, so i think it would be helpful to see what he thinks! (it might just be me realizing that i no longer have to release it evenly the whole way up because i can find that point by quickly letting off and then pausing a bit right when i need to then releasing... i'm a worry wart though! but, geez, has my driving come a long way already!)

I got a few cards from my dealer (Planet Honda, Union NJ) but they weren't birthday cards.
One of them was a "thank you" from the body shop a few weeks after I did a repair.
The others are cards reminding me to respond to the Honda surveys and if I had a problem come see them for a free oil change coupon.
I do get discount service coupons and got a couple of telemarketing calls when they have sales. I opted out of the telemarketing calls.
They're good on other stuff though. Their finance guys can be a bit pushy but which dealer isn't.
got cards from the dealer when i had the Mustang for 4 years. they didnt know i totaled it on the 3rd year. got 1 card for the WRX. be interesting to see if the Hoda dealer sends one. be a year in March.
cant believe its close to a year already.

We got cards in August from both dealers for the Pilot & the Accord's anniversary. Got another Christmas card from the Accord's dealer. I'll probably get another birthday card too.... Each one has the picture they took of me & the car when I picked it up. I'd sure like to send them a different picture! I look different now & so does the car!!
I like it when dealers take an extra step! It makes me feel good! :D

I just love that extra touch some dealers do! Only one out of the 3 Honda dealers we bought from do it. They sent maintaince reminders though..... never for what I would need for the Accord since I don't put the kind of miles on it they expect. After 18 months I have about half the miles they think I should.... still looks & smells new! I sure wish I could send them a new picture! I'm tired of the one they use & I look so much different now! Maybe this Spring after a nice long detailing, I'll have my prince take another & call them up to see if they can put it in their records....;)
What happens with the used car warranty when you buy from a non Honda dealer? I would assume they can't be certified & don't have the 100K drivetrain warranty.....

I got an anniversary card from my dealer...but the best thing I got was a birthday greeting from my car! They had programmed a birthday greeting into the Nav system's calendar that popped up when I started the car that day. I spent 5 minutes wondering how the car knew it was my birthday.

I've known Keith Ketchum at Concord Honda for 8 years now. Great value add service. He is the Service Manager.
Now that dealership down from them called Acura of Concord is the WORSE !
Avoid em......

I know at least one of the techs at Concord Acura....he's, ummm, well, not very good at his chosen profession..... :paranoid: He has helped the kids when we're out of town, but no diagnostic, just parts replacing. I wouldn't recommend him. If he's anything like the rest there....that's then LAST place I'd go!! :D
Some of the ones at Concord are OK. They aren't happy right now with some changes there, but I'm hoping it's not something the customers would see.
Ones a "shoeman"...if he removes the wheels for ANY reason, it gets new brakes! Other than that he's a decent tech.

Berkeley Honda is going through some tumultous times. They switched owners in July (long time owner Jim Doten sold it) and he had to fire all 26 tech's by the contract of sale. Only 15 got rehired and most everyone went on strike. I think the new owners must be assholes because they didn't rehire a guy 2 years from retirement, so now he's fifty with no job and no pension :thumbsdow BOYCOTT THEM!

I don't get why new owners do that stuff! We got new owners a while back & they mostly just made management changes. Trained techs aren't easy to find! Apparently the Berkeley people wanted to make sure it was no longer union. Union contracts aren't great, but they're usually better than the companies come up with.
If the dealer he's at had stayed union, he'd be retiring in about 7 more years. Now there's no retirement, so he'll be working till he drops dead...... :paranoid:

Not to put a damper on this thread, but my preference is for dealers to stay out of my personal life. My birthday and other personal data is none of their business. I guess if you finance with a dealer they tap your credit report and so forth, but I've never done that. Privacy please!

Mine had nothing to do with financing either.....just what they do. I liked it. It didn't fell like an intrusion.... :dunno: just nice.

Gotta love how they just rape you in other countries.
My Accord without navi in Trinidad (no navi there) I think was about $250k which is about $40k US.
Believe it or not they consider the Accord to be a luxury car, that only rich people drive. There are a few people driving high end mercedes, bmw, ferrari etc but they are VERY few, some are involved in organized crime and others are just filthy stinking rich.
And the dealer's website lists 2.0L not 2.4L although that could just be a mistake. :dunno:
Their warranty is for 100,000 km though, which is a little over 62,000 miles!!
But it's still 3 years, and batteries are only covered for 24 months.
Also, if the vehicle is serviced by anyone other than them (they're the only authorized Honda dealer in the country) the warranty is null and void.

 Accords and Civics are dangerous to drive in Malaysia, they get stolen at gunpoint. Ditto Mercedes :D
Malaysian Accords use a 2.0L and the 2.4L is an upgraded "Premium" model. The 2.0L produces good horsepower, something like 148 (6th gen) - 150 (7th gen) but low end torque is lacking. With the 6th gen, they had to introduce the 2.3L model finally to remedy it, and they just decided to sell it side by side for the 7th gen from the beginning.

WHen i bought my suzuki motorcyle, they took a picture of me and the motorcyle and they mailed me a copy of the motorcyle w/ me riding it and a calendar version of the pic :) I think it worked cuz im gonna buy my cbr 600 in the spring in the same dealership. Just gotta save up a lil bit more money :)
