Clicking sound when braking and turning wheel

Hi. For the past few weeks I had been noticing a creeking / clicking sound whenever I would apply the brakes and turn the steering wheel or just turn the steering wheel at slow speeds.
I had gone to pep boys who told me the ball joint was bad so to be that appeard to the issue after they told me so but for the past 2 days, I have been noticing it and it pretty loud when I hit the brakes and turning the steering wheel. I also noticed that the sound is louder when it is really hot outside which it was around 92 degrees unlike today which was around 77 degrees. The sound was still there but not as loud at all.
So just wondering if anyone might know what the issue might be.

Sometimes it can be a CV joint

Try this

Go to a supermarket parking lot. Open all of your windows so you can listen. Crank the steering wheel all the way to one side, lets say you picked the Left. Step on the gas and go in a circle. You don't need to go fast. Do it also with the wheel all the way to the right.

If you hear a clickety clickety sound, it's probably a CV joint

could be a cv joint......... but generally they make noises when turning and accelerating, not braking. never heard of a cv joint making noise simply by turning the wheel as he says without being in motion. could happen though I guess. never heard one make noise that could be related to breaking.... is it repeated clicking, or just one click when you hit the brakes while turning?

An old car of mine (when I didn't give a s**T) made noise just by turning the wheel when not in motion.

If I remember right I neglected the torn boots long enough that the joint was as dry as a corn shuck.. ahh to be young, dumb, careless with a car you paid next to nothing for!!!

i don't have a solution, but i do have a similar or even more peculiar of a problem!!! it's been the same for the past 1-1/2 to 2 years, so i haven't really put any thought to it anymore, until this reminded me...

my 03 AT sedan will make a loud single click upon acceleration... here's the clincher though: only when coming out of reverse!!! (i.e. pulling out of the driveway)... it was annoying at first, but it's become such a usual occurance, i couldn't honestly remember the last time i noticed it!!!

oh well, i really didn't mean to threadjack you "pimpp1184"... it was just one of those things that i've been meaning to blurt out for years, but kept forgetting!!! :lmao:

thanks for all your replies. I should have mentioned that I went to pep boys and they said the same thing that the CV joint was messed up. SO I had them replace it. I didn't hear the sound for about 4 days while it was raining non stop and then when it got extremely hot (in the 90s) I noticed the sound again but even louder. So I just got off the phone with pep boys again and told them about the situation ... so I'm going back in there again ... pretty pissed about the whole sitation ... been spending too god damn much on this car at the moment with stupid situations. I've heard that it could be the bushings ... but idk yet

Don't go to pep boys. If you want it fixed right, and right the first time more than likely you should use a dealer, or someone who works on hondas only, or honda/acura specialist etc. You might think a specialist would cost more, but they're usually pretty moderately priced.

I hate to stereotype, but chains like that are made to keep you coming back again and again wasting more and more of your money. I've never had a good experience with a chain of stores that repair cars, it's always been bad one for me. JMO.

Actually I had gone or asked for a price quote from a honda dealer when my gas tank was leaking, they told me it would cost around $1300 with labor and new tank ... that is quite a WHOLE lot. I went to midas (2nd mistake) and got it fixed for $850. I later found that I could've gotten it much cheaper at pep boys ... all in all, pep boys haven't robbed me much at all. Just the boot joint part where they said that was the source of the clicking. But before that i went to get my axle and wheel bearing replaced with them and they were much cheaper than midas. Midas was charging me almost 800 to replace both.
Pep boys charged me about $320.
I was told that the bushings can be the issue relating to the clicking sound so i'll have them check that out when I go in agian sometime this week ...
But just thought if there might be any other thing like the tire rod or something like that.

For the future

Believe it or not, Bondo body filler fixes gas tank leaks.

You can also use fiberglas cloth kits too.

Just make sure the tank is empty and no gasoline leaches out at the repair spot, sand all arong the leak area and slap the stuff on.
