Between the new Accord and the Altima, I think Solara sales are going to go down. The only really saving it is the ability to get a convertible version.

Something weird I noticed when looking at the sedan pics again: the blue accords have body-colored handles but the rest of the colors seem to be chrome?!? I was thinking it may be an LX/EX thing but the blue one appears to be an EX. Very weird...

And the more I look at the pics, the more I like the sedan over the coupe...when the pics first came out, it was the total opposite.

I'm thinking the Chrome has something to do with V6 or not.

But the title of the pics makes it seem like they are all V6s. Plus if you look at the wheels on the blue one and then on the other colors, they are identical, which leads me to believe the blue one is a V6 too. :dunno:

Gotta agree with some posts in earlier threads, the sedan looks like a Saturn. :thumbsdow

So finally honda achieved making the sedan look like a real family car :screwy:

I just can't wait to see how much better the Accord will look in all the Asian countries. Then everyone will be posting threads on how to make the front end of the asian accord fit onto this one :lmao: .

I wish they were keeping the new 2007 sedan blues (Cool Blue Metallic in particular) instead of going back to just Royal Blue. (YAK!!) At least that will desuade me from trading for a 2008. I sat in a 2007 V6 6MT in Cool Blue Metallic ... what a tempting upgrade!

Hopefully by the time I have my 2006 broken in, the mid-cycle update will bring that Cool Blue Metallic back, a new I4 hybrid, and maybe a diesel option or a 6MT V6 again.... seeing them driving around town will make holding out a challenge. This new model reminds me of the classic lines of the 4th generation.

I am really glad I bought a 7th gen. I may need to skip the 8th gen altogether....don't really like the look.:thumbsdow

Same here, I hate, hate, hate the chrome on the window of the Coupe, I can live with it on the sedan, but it just doesn't work for ME with the Coupe.....

Those voices in my head :paranoid: tell me that chrome window trim will have black tape applied when the car is officially released.

If the voices :paranoid: are wrong, I'm buying stock in a company that makes black tape:naughty:

It seems the 8th gen's front has gone the way of Chrysler's cars with big bulky front ends. Not the best of styling to me, I really like the 7th gen's sleek front end.

That pretty much sums it up. Honda has a hit on their hands. Much better looking then the 7th gen coupe. I hate to say it. I love my car, but I certainly didn't buy it for it's looks. It's not bad looking, but it puts the "p" in plain. There is absolutely nothing exciting about the 7th gen coupe. It's obvious Honda decided it was time to rectify about the only criticism people say about the Accord, that it's boring looking.

With all the virtues that make a Honda a Honda, and an Accord such a great car, now you can add looks to that as well. This 8th gen is going to sell itself. I don't see dealer discounts for quite some time, especially for the coupe. Good job Honda! Can't wait to start seeing them on the road.

So many completely different opinions....I guess the old saying is true....beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

.....can't really fathom how these words appear to be from such an excited owner - - - just a short time back. Must be the grass is greener syndrome.

...give it some more time, lad. Your GenSeven coupe - with economy, speed and world class reliability will grow on you (maybe slowly in your case)........

Sure, I look forward to a TD of the '08 coupe;but sure as hell I won't even come close to the 23.4 I laid out for the Gen7. I'm not even sure I like the new treatment shown for the shifter (TOV photo applies here).

....it's still a great car (IMHO)

..best, ez..

No ez, you missed my point. Don't misunderstand thinking my car looks boring from not loving it. I'm absolutely crazy about the car, I look forward to driving it every day, and I'm extremely happy with the decision to purchase it. I will keep it for many years to come. But let's be honest, the car really isn't exciting to look at. It's not offensive in any way, but no one turns their head to give in a second glance. It kind of blends in with the scenery, and gets lost in the shuffle of all the other boring, "faceless" cars out there.

The 8th gen coupe however is a looker. I think this is new territory for Honda. They have always styled the Accord extremely conservatively, to the point of boring. But the Accord has always been a great car, thus strong sales regardless of the looks. Now that Honda has the looks and the other attributes that make the Accord such a great car, it's going to sell itself. It will be a good time to be a Honda salesman when the 8th gen hits the lots. Not only are people going to buy it in droves, but I'm sure it will sell at full sticker with no complaint for some time to come.

I bet Toyota is scared sh%tless of the sales Honda is going to steal from their Camry line. I predict the 8th gen Accord is going to eclipse the Camry for best selling family sedan in America. And I predict the coupe is going to sell a lot better than it has in the past. Time will tell, but those are my predictions.

Actually, I think it already has. The only reason the Camry has a higher number of sales is because Toyota does fleet sales. Take out the number of fleet sales, and the Accord is the number one seller, not the Camry. Accord has a higher number of consumer sales than the Camry.

(I know, I keep bringing these things back from the dead.)

The Solara is discontinued.

Really? I saw some 08s when doing my shopping. Think you've got some wrong information.

The Solara will apparently run for another model year. :dunno: I admit that I haven't kept up with the latest in automotive news, but the latest I heard was that the Solara was finished after 2007.

I totally agree. I went to the honda dealership last when looking for my new car. Why? Not because I don't like hondas, I think hondas are great cars BUT... I was definitely not a fan of the looks of the old 07 body style. I went to the dealership, unknowing that there was a redesigned 08 version availible. I saw the 07s around front and said, eh...I don't even want to drive one, I just can't do it. Yes, I want a reliable car, but I also want it to look good, and aside from a few acuras I don't think hondas have ever appealed to me. Then I saw the new accord parked to the side of the building...It really stuck out on the lot and I was floored to find that this was the new accord. Needless to say, I was sold after a test drive. I pondered on it and worked with the salesman for a couple days before finally buying but there was no doubt I was going to buy an 08 accord. I wanted a 4 door sedan that looked good and was reliable with a 4 cylinder for gas mileage as well as leather and a sunroof for 30k or less out the door. Put the 08 accord sedan up against the others I drove (nissan altima, saturn aura, pontiac g6, and toyota camry) the accord wins hands down IMO.
