By looking at this picture it looks shorter than the 7th gen. I wouldn't want it to have less legroom in the back seats.
Terps_Fan 07-11-2007, 12:48 PM Do you mean shorter as in the actual height of the car or the total length of the car? If the actual height of the car is shorter, I wouldn't imagine that would affect the leg room (maybe headroom). Plus I don't think Honda would make the next gen Accord any smaller. From what I heard, this one may actually be larger.:dunno:

I mean shorter in length, not height. The rear doors look shorter.
Accordlover 07-11-2007, 01:16 PM The interior of the Accord is rumored to be classified as a full size.
So if it got shorter, Honda worked their space saving magic. Again.
RTexasF 07-11-2007, 01:38 PM All of the articles I've read said the interior was larger than 7th gen. How did they figure that out?:dunno::dunno:

I think the 5th generation was a little shorter than the 4th.
Phongt12 07-12-2007, 09:36 PM I read somewhere that the 8th gen sedan was a few inches longer than its 7th gen predecessor. Sorry, I can't find the article to back up my info., but it would make sense to me. Honestly though, I wish the sedan were a little smaller. I would hate to see an Accord the size of the current Avalon because that thing is a tank!

It was. And it's completely apparent when you sit in both the rear of a 4th gen, and the rear of a 5th gen. Dumbest move Honda ever made with the Accord IMO. The Civics of those years had more rear room!
However, the 5th gen is much more comfortable seat wise, leg wise in the rar anyone over 5'9 feels cramped in the leg department.

I wish Honda made a vehicle the size of the Avalon. The "tank" is not put together very well. I have spent 5 hours evaluating Avalon and Acura RL with my dad. We noticed that the driver side dash trim did not align with the door trim on the Avalon. Very un-Toyota like in our opinion. Then we realized that on every Avalon on the lot the dash was sagging on the driver side; you could flex it up with your knee by about 3 inches. YIKES!!! That has to be a future rattle!!
So, I'd welcome a larger Accord that has the Honda tightness that I am used to.... and even revive the old Taurus vs. Accord rivalry of generations past.
On the same note, the current Acura RL is smaller than the previous generation and its sales have suffered as a result ...not unlike the 4th gen to 5th gen Accord. Overall much improved car, but tighter back seat.
Powered By Pho 08-21-2007, 08:34 PM Is it me or the new Accords are getting a little too big? I love the new styling but if you spent as much time as I do driving in crowed urban areas, this would be a problem for me.

Time to get a Civic maybe?
It's going to appeal to whatever North America needs. I think the idea is to show people that they can fit a family of four into a sedan comfortably. This taking SUV sales down. In the 90's it was all about the sedan, it wasn't until 2000 that I really began seeing urban assault vehicles left and right.

Accordlover 08-21-2007, 09:16 PM Well to answer the thread topic.
No.
Nimoxp 08-24-2007, 01:12 PM New accord is is 3.2 inches longer theen the 7th gen version. That is indeed some serious growth.
psyshack 08-24-2007, 07:08 PM How could one think its shorter. when its compared size wise to a mopar 300?
