From Autoblog.

We've only had it here in the US since April of 2006, but the plucky little Honda Fit has been on sale in Japan and other markets since as far back as 2001. Suffice to say that the subcompact found an audience, as Honda has formally announced that as of the end of June, over 2 million Fits (including the name-engineered Jazz, which it's called in Europe and Asia/Oceana) have been sold worldwide. Unsurprisingly, Japan accounts for the lion's share, with almost half that number (962,000 to be exact) sold in the home market. Europe is next with 417,000. The US accounts for 77,000 cars since introduction last year. The next-generation Fit/Jazz is (finally) expected to bow at this year's Tokyo Motor Show.

I am not a big fan, but I guess a few other people are buying these things.

Seems like a cool little car, but way too small for my taste!

I'd love it for mpg but acceleration is terrible for my driving style.

I love the Fit!

It looks so small, but it feels so substantial. FamilyCar stated that the ride was better than a Civic.

Not to mention the materials in that car feel better than the Accord in some aspects, steering is great (and it's electric, so that's a rare thing to say), and as far as the acceleration goes, if you get the MT (or I suppose if you had a sport AT with the paddle shifters) a quick downshift and away you go on the freeway. The car handles 80mph without a sweat.

One or Two fits (not sure yet!) will be the next addition to our driveway, and I'm on heels and toes waiting for the chance to drive one again; they're just so darn fun!

It's a cool little car, comparable with the Scion XB, just make sure you have a sun dial handy if you want to check the 0-60 times.

pfft. throw a k20 in there and you'll have one quick little car. slalom numbers better than a vette Z06 don't hurt either. ;)

Haha yeah I saw that, wasn't that in SCC? I can't keep up with the mag names any more:(

I can't even consider the fit simply due to the way it looks. It is one of the worst looking cars I have ever seen, like a mini-minivan. If I were in the market for something like the fit or civic, I'd go with a civic in a heartbeat.

I am not a big fan,

x2.

'Course, to be honest, I've never really checked one out. However, I'll take a look the next time I'm at the dealership for service.

For me, the Fit isn't a fit - GET IT?!!?! BWAHHHHH, HAAAA, HAAAA, HA!!!!1! - it is too small for The Mrs., and, as I've posted before, if I were to get a new Honda, it would be a V6/6spd Accord sedan. But, I'm glad it's doing well for Honda.

comparable with the Scion XB,

I'm glad Honda has something to compete with Scion. The Element just didn't seem to cut it...

I suppose it's a great city car, but I do a lot of interstate driving and want a more substantial car. I couldn't imagine seeing a speeding Peterbilt in the rearview mirror. :paranoid::paranoid::paranoid:

Same reason why I didn't want a new civic. the accord feels so much bigger inside.

I actually like the element a lot. If I were in the market for a smaller suv-ish type car, I would go with the element.

It's only small on the outside. Interior space feels much better than any recent Civic. I had more headroom in the Fit I drove than I did in my Accord!

The only thing I'd want would be 120-130ish HP and a center arm rest. The arm rest might be an option that the one I drove didn't have. Other than that I think it's perfect, and the magic seat is the coolest thing I've ever seen in a small car.

I also like the Elements. They're different. I like that.

We just got an Element :).

And we're going to probably be the first people in New Orleans to take possession of a 2009 Fit in Aug/Sept. We're on heels and toes!

The Element is pretty nice:thmsup:. I think that the Fit is just plain cool and I would buy one if there weren't so many full size suv's and trucks in my neck of the woods.

They are good cheap cars. If I lived down south, I would really consider one, but living where I am now, I just don't think that I would feel safe during bad weather. I also think that there is more room inside the Fit than there is in the Civic, especially the coupe, which I do not fit in at all.
