Hi Folks,
I plan to upgrade my audio system in my Honda Accord by replacing the speakers and add an 5-channel amp. I would like to add a 10" sub but I would like to get a smallest enclosure as possible to fit the sub in the trunk. I would like to keep the trunk space as much as possible. Can anyone recommend any sub enclosure I should get?

My currently plan is to get Kicker Comp VT TCVT102

Do Pioneer and Sony subs with small enclosures sound any better?

Please advice.

Thanks in advance.

You could go with a JL Audio wedge type of box such as the CS110TG-W1V2 which is really meant for a truck, but since you wanted to go with a smaller type of type of box, this could be a possibility. The only thing I would be concerned about is bracing the box so that it won't fall over when braking or acceleration.

Or you could go with another wedge box like the CS110RG-W1V2

If you want one to take up the least space I can make one for you that fits in the rear driver's side of the trunk, as long as you have a sedan.

Here is a pic of mine with a 12".

Thanks guys for the inputs.

GregS, I plan to install my amp at that location. How hard will it be to access the spare tire if you have the custom enclosure mounted on that location? That custom enclosure definately nice and looks good. :) I also want to get something that I could remove in case I need to put something big in the trunk.

Decision, decision, decision ...................

It still very easy to access the spare. You just have to slide the cover for the spare slightly to the side and then it pulls out normally. I actually mounted my amps on the opposite side in front of the jack and made the rack able to fold down slightly for access to the jack.

If you want it to be removable you can use velcro to hold it in place of just set it there. I would recommend velcro just so that it won't move if you have and accident. Mine is just sitting in place right now and hasn't moved for months.

Greg S,
That's a nice looking enclosure. How does it sound, though?

Nice enclosure Greg S. If I buy a sedan, I may be contacting you for a price on that :)

Sounds great as it is almost perfect airspace for the sub in it. The old Polk Momo 12 I use needs .85 cu. ft. of airspace and it has .88 with this set-up. It is a very tight and acurate bass with good low end extention but like most sealed design boxes it is a little power hungry so I have 600 watts RMS running to it with 600 going to the rest of the system. I also don't have much in the way of trunk rattles, which is nice since I haven't done any sound deadening as of yet.:paranoid:

Side firing doesn't really shange how the bass sounds. it just loads up in the trunk like any other sub will. The only designs that I've seen which sound defferent in a trunk are force loading, where you have the subs firing at the seat and basical seal them off from the trunk, and rear firing, where it gets a little corner loading from aiming at the back of the trunk and then coming forward but at the sacrifice of rattling the trunk lid more.
