I'm in the Raleigh area. But not apposed to a Charlotte meet. Then again the Ashville Zoo is geographically in the center of the state. So it might be a good place to meet. :dunno:

Just throwing out another suggestion.

I'd be interested. Wouldn't be opposed to Charlotte if the timing is right.

What's middle ground relative to anyone interested?

The Prelude meets I've attended usually pick an area that has some great driving roads that are either twisty :naughty: or really scenic and/or have some famous or unique places to eat and hangout.

Any place come to mind for anyone?

jacmax69
07-24-2007, 05:05 AM
I am new to the charlotte area so not sure about windy roads. I know where there is one in VA but it is also a speed trap for the cops.

I think if we set up a time first then we can find a place to meet. If the time doesn't work a meeting place is no good. :)

Tiny
07-24-2007, 11:44 AM
Yea your right timing is everything so someone shoot out some date and then will go from there.....

Tiny
07-28-2007, 07:17 AM

I pick the one at Lake Norman. It's only about an hour away. What about Greensboro?? I-85 runs right through there and it's pretty central to the Triangle, Triad, and the Queen city.

How about the Hooters near the Lowe's Motor Speedway?

I am always interested in a long weekend road trip to NC! I have family in the Hickory area that gets you close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. I may be up that way in October for my vacation. I'll watch this space and check with ya'll.

jacmax69
08-26-2007, 11:18 AM
Hickory isn't far from Charlotte and closer to Lake Norman no?

Is Sunday alright for y'all?? 3rd weekend of October is fine right now. I'll write that down in my calendar. Also location will be great, especially since NC has 100 counties.

Hey guys, did the NC meet ever happen? I started my new job this week which means less traveling  . . .i.e. . . . my schedule is more predictable now. After Thanksgiving, I'd be up for it.

Hickory was mentioned. That's about the center of NC but was that location central to everyone that was considering going? If most of us are farther east, could we consider someplace like Asheboro?

WolfpackBill
11-17-2007, 05:06 AM
I prefer Asheboro. I have no clue about that area but I think it'll be a great place to meet. Or Greensboro because it's got more than Asheboro. But it's up to y'all.

The Pope

The N.C. Zoo in in Asheboro. This time of year there should be plenty of parking.

WolfpackBill
11-19-2007, 07:59 PM
That sounds good. I didn't even think of that.

I got this crazy ass idea that it would be cool to do some track time.

http://chasinracin.com/track-locator/rtl_links.php?action=1&state=NC

Any of these cities sound familiar to anyone?

A DYNO day could be fun, too. Not sure where to start with that one tho.

I'm sure either one would cost money. I'm not sure how expensive this would be.

And of course, just hanging out would be cool, too.

Are the holidays too nutz for everyone? Maybe think about something after January at this point?

Anyone heard of Tail of the Dragon?

http://www.tailofthedragon.com/

Its an 11 mile stretch of road with 318 bends in it. I've read about it lots of times but for some reason it didn't click that it was in NC. :) In the srping when the weather gets warm again, we should plan a meet for this area. The scenery is supposed to be beautiful. I think Grandfather Mountain is in the area, too.

The Pope
01-10-2008, 02:49 AM
The only thing in regards to the Tail of The Dragon is having to deal with all of the two wheelers (which I would most likely be one of :naughty:). As it's a very popular stretch of road for them (and the LEO too :paranoid:). But as you said ... the scenery would be nice.

So everyone ...... any more thoughts on a meet? :dunno:

I'd consider driving as far as Charlotte if it were to be on my weekend off. I'm off this weekend and every other following. Maybe somewhere near Lowe's Motor Speedway or Bass Pro Shop?

I'll have to consult mapquest on Asheboro or Greensboro.

EDIT: Just found Asheboro, Greensboro and Clayton in a travel atlas. You guys are nearly in Virginia!

The Pope
01-10-2008, 02:43 PM
Clayton is just a little east / south east of Raleigh.

Lowe's MS or the Bass Pro Shop would / could work.
The Asheboro Zoo is in the middle of the state.

I'm in - need to put some miles on my ride. Maybe in the Greensboro area - kinda half way between Raleigh and Charlotte, easy to get to.

Pope had suggested the Ashboro area near the zoo before. That should be a farily mid-way point for everyone interested. I believe most of the DA'ers considering it were from Charlotte, Winston-Salem, or Raleigh areas.

I'm not to fmailiar with the area tho I have been there before. We would need a place with a sizable parking lot with some privacy so we can hang and oogle cars for a bit. Some place with a nice back drop for some pics would be cool.

One of the Prelude Clubs met at High Point Park not too far from there (farther north). I wasn't able to make that one but I'll see if they posted any pics of the meet to see what it was like.

What about the Grandover Resort in Greensboro? Large parking areas, bar, nice surroundings, bar, easy to get to, and did I mention the bar. At the Groometown Exit off I-85. Not crowded on a Sunday. What think ye Carolinians?

I wont make it but dont forget about any underage people who may go. The bar may not be the best spot but wherever yall end up going have fun and be safe. :)

Hey - Anyone interested in this next Sunday? (Aug 23rd)

http://www.preludepower.com/forums/showthread.php?t=298404

I was thinking of heading down to check it out. I've been active on PreludePower for awhile. Not sure about the Carolinas Honda peeps. Could be interesting. Not sure how long I'd stay.

At the least it will be a nice drive. Twist my arm to spend time in the Honda. :lmao: I'd take 64 over, not 85. More laid back, and scenic. Blue Mist BBQ is just outside of Asheboro on 64, too. Mmmmmm . . . . :)

If not this, how about getting a DA meet sometime?

drvalu

Can't make it next Sunday - will be in FL. Still interested in a DA meet though.

The Pope

Can't do it either. :(

I will be just getting back from Fl. friday and I will be wanting to spend some quality time with the family.
