I recently bought a used 2005 accord v6 coupe from carmax.

I declined their warranty because they wanted like $1200 for it.

I went to my local honda dealership and he quoted me $1300 for 4 additional years. I got stingy with my money and decided not to buy the warranty.

I have a side business and in addition to my regular 9-5, I am going to be paying some serious taxes at the end of the year. I made an appointment with a CPA and he told me that if I had bought an extended warranty on the car, I could write it off at the end of the year as a tax CREDIT.

It doesn't take a genius to realize my mistake....

So now I am at 37k miles and about 1k over the mfg. warranty. Does anyone know if the Honda dealership will still sell me an extended warranty? The car is ~2 years old, so that part holds true.....it's just 1k over the 36k standard miles.

thanks

You could try. The dealership may give it to you good will.

Just buy it online from somewhere like College Hills (http://www.collegehillshonda.com/hondacare/warranty.htm), Curry Honda (http://www.curryhondacare.com/), or Saccucci Honda (http://www.myhondawarranty.com/) and say your odometer is at 35,500 miles or something.

College Hills = $1170 for 60 month/60K warranty and $0 deductible

Curry = $1275 for coverage through 7/24/2011 or 83500 miles and $0 deductible; $1315 for coverage through 7/24/2012 or 95500 miles and $0 deductible

Saccucci = $1095 for 60 months/60k miles and $0 deductible
