Can someone point me to a How To for an oil change on the 7th Gen accord V6? I can't seem to find one, and w/Pictures would be nice.
Thanks

Turn the wheel all the way to the right. You should see the Oil filter sticking out next to the Front right tire. But first drain the oil pan if you know where that is.

I'm pretty sure the oil pan plug is 17mm. The oil pan is on the passenger side of the car. The oil plug is tipped toward the rear of the car.
Drain oil from pan.
Remove oil filter.
Rub a little bit of old oil on rubber seal of new oil filter.
Install new oil filter.
Pour new oil in car.
Start the car and make sure no oil is leaking from filter or pan plug.
It's very easy.

The people above hit it on the nail. We don't have a DIY for the V6 yet...I'll make one next month or so when I need to change my Oil.
Like above. Drain the oil out of the oil pan. I also think it is 17mm socket for the oil pan. It is easy to spot as it is made out of aluminum and not steel.
1. Drain the oil. Make sure before you drain your oil that you go by your dealership and get some crush washers for the oil pan. These helps make a good seal and ensures you don't over torque the oil pan as this can crack the pan. I think around 34 lbs was the torque spec.
2. The filter is on the right side of the car above the suspension components. It is pretty easy to get to. If you haven't bought a filter yet...don't buy a Fram. Those are not good. Mostly anything else is ok...just don't use a Fram.
3. When replacing the filter, like they said above, take some oil and lubricate the filter seal. Then, screw the filter on until the seal touches the engine. Then it is 3/4 of a turn to tighten.
4. Then add oil. 5-20 is the reccomended oil for the engine. It is up to you about what you want to use.
Next month or so, I'll get a DIY up when I do the TL. The engine layout is the same....just the clothing is a little different. At least then we will have a DIY.

I agree with above. A tip though, when you drain the oil, take the fill cap off first, it allows the pan to drain better.
If you look under the car, you will see something that will say Engine Oil with an arrow pointing towards the drain bolt. That will be your oil pan. Don't mistake it for the transmission oil.
As Steven said, don't forget to use a new drain plug washer. It should be about 50 cents or so from your local dealership.

I like jacking up the front (with a hydraulic jack) to drain as much oil out as possible, and its easier to slide my oil drain pan in and out....

all of the above is good info. i used jack stands to get under the car. i also like to warm the car up a little to get everything flowing smoothly. careful though, hot oil burns something fierce. also remember to dispose of used oil in the proper receptacle. if you have an auto zone, or advanced auto parts near you i think they take in used motor oil for free.

Wouldn't 5w-20 would actually flow better cold, at the lower viscosity?
I've changed it hot and cold. Either is fine.
--------------
After you loosen the filter, you can put a plastic bag over it to catch the oil when you remove it.
If you remove the filter before draining the crankcase, it can drain in your catch pan before it's full of oil.
When filling, a funnel is cheap insurance to prevent a mess topside.

Quick question, do I have to remove the plastic cover underneath the car? When you guys said turn the wheels to the right to get to to the filter, does that mean I do not need to remove the cover? Thanks.

You shouldn't have a cover to remove.

No need to remove any covers... You're not working on a German car ;)

Thanks for the replies guys. I did the oil changes on my Pontiac all the time, so I'm no stranger to it. I'm really interested in the location of the Oil plug and filter on the Accord as well as any special things (such as the washer on the oil plug needing to be changed????) that are specific to the accord. Looks like you guys covered all that, so I'm confident it won't be too hard. I have a set of Rhino Rams which make life pretty easy for oil changes. I think I will get the OEM honda filters from Bernardi Parts since they include the washers with the filters. As far as Oil, I typically use Mobile 1 Clean 5000, but I have never seen it in a 5W-20. Does it hurt to switch to 5W-30? I'm not an oil expert.
Thanks Again

I use 0w-20, 5w-20 and 5w-30 on mine with no issues. try to get 0w-20 though its on sale for $5 at walmart. I ran it for 5k and it was still good as new like it just came from the bottle. Maybe its the only M1 with PAO....LOL (ducking for cover)

Wal-Mart has the 5-quart jugs on sale for $20... It's been like that for about a month now. The jugs come in anything from 5w-20 to 10w-40.

I know a lot of folks don't do it, but if your going to jack up the car, take the wheel off. Especially if your changing out the filter as well. Makes it so much more easier and I don't care how good you are, you are going to get oil spill on the the suspension parts and have to wipe it up really good if you don't want to see oil drops on your driveway. Plus, lets you inspect the brakes and tire closely. I like to look into things to make sure nothing is out of place. Especially if the car is still under warranty. Yes, it is 17mm, same as the 6th gen.

Quick question, does the oil life indicator in the car reset to zero if I change the oil myself?
Your owner's manual gives the procedure for resetting the oil life monitor.

how about i4.
is it the same procedure? with exact location of drain and oil filter?
what exactly I need to do?
1. drain the oil
2. replace the oil drain plug washer with the new one
3. remove the oil filter
4. lubricate the rubber seal of the new oil filter
5. put the oil filter in place, tighten it. (How do I know whether it's tight enough?)
6. pour the new oil from the top hole.
is that the correct procedure?

I just change my oil. I would like to know how easy is it to crack the oil pan? After I put everything in placce and drove around a bit, I noticed that the oil was leaking. So I tighten everything (the oil drain bolt and the oil filter) really hard this time. Thanks.

Did you use a new crush washer on the oil pan plug?
