Howdy DA! Long time no chat:wave:

A while back I got a nasty UOA report back from Terry Dyson, and since I already know that my car's factory spark plugs look pretty icky, I want to do a 30k maintenance interval and replace them.

On the Honda parts sites, there's a Denso plug (SKJ20DR-M13) and a NGK plug (IZFR6K13) for my engine. The only apparent difference between the two is price - the Denso is a couple bucks more.

Is there any real performance difference between the two plugs? I'd like to make the best choice, and car's engine is running a bit rougher than usual lately...

On 4Runner V6's, three of the spark plugs are NGK and three are Denso. There isn't much difference.

That Toyota sure has been indecisive lately!:lmao:

Use the NGK for Hondas. That is why they are supposed to like the most.

someone did a test on tacomaterritory with normal non iridium plugs in their truck and proved that the ngk's lasted longer than densos..

I saw your post on BITOG but thought that I would post here instead. What is the measured gap on each plug or at least on a few? I measured mine around 71k and they were within spec. Have you checked the coil resistance?

Here's my old thread with some pics of what the factory plugs looked like about 5,000 miles ago:

Cool, I'll go with the NGK's, which is great since they're a bit lower priced per set :)

Iridium's are a scam and way over priced. Copper is the best conductor and cheaper by a long shot. Just replace the copper's every 30K. Cheap and easy job to do.
