View Full Version : Window won't close...help!!
95F225speed 07-28-2007, 09:41 AM Alright I was driving my friend home and I just had a quick stop at his house, while I was in the car I rolled the window (driver's side) all the way down, and when I was ready to leave, I tried to close my window, and it wouldn't go up! So I got home and take the panel apart, try to force the glass to go up so it's always closed, but it's REALLY tight!! So right now I'm doing the ghetto duct tape crap...I checked the fuses, they were good, and the window regulator was pretty new (not even a year old, since I got that replaced when my window was stuck.) But, it acts pretty funny, when I flip the button down like when u close the window, all lights dims, which means there's electricity flowing, and when I flip it up try to close it, no lights were dimmed, so I assume that the regulator was shot? But how? it's not even a year old! and it's installed by a Honda Specialist and he got the part from the Honda dealer! Please let me know what do you guys think, `cuz I just lost my job and there's NO WAY I can afford another regulator!! Any opinions?
It's a 95' four-door.
Oh and I don't wanna keep doing that ghetto duct tape crap on my Accord `cuz I love that car.
stiller fan 07-28-2007, 09:55 AM it could be that one of the mounting bolts came loose, jamming the window....
that's what happened to me. take it back to the shop, and hope that they have a warranty, so that they can fix it with no cost to you.
let us know what happens....
Accordlover 07-28-2007, 10:35 AM Well, first things first.
What kind of regulator was the OEM one replaced with?
Lots of shops use cheapo aftermarket ones; even worse than the Honda ones. :( The key to making the motors last as long as possible is regular lubrication of the window channels with silicon spray. It makes a world of a difference, and I'm willing to bet your car is due for new window channels, because over time they deteriorate and make it harder for the windows to go up and down.
Basically it sounds like you need a new regulator. They're not usually things you fix. If you took the panel off and looked inside the door already you would've seen if it was loose or not. If the motor is not trying at all then it's failed.

Same exact thing happend on my '95. It was the master switch. Try wiggling the button back and forth. Alot of times water and other things get down in there, corroding the contacts. I smoke and sometimes when it's raining, the water falls RIGHT on the switches with the window cracked. Just something to look into...It's an easy fix if that's it, but see if you can find someone else with that gen to plug thiers in and check first, I think it cost me around 150 bucks and it's non returnable.

No, that mechanic ALWAYS get parts straight from the Honda dealer, so it's not a cheap ass one, and it cost me $150 and another $100 for labor, god that damn thing was expansive!! What I hate is that the motor assembly and the regulator is one piece, so if one fails, I'd have to get the whole damn thing. But I mean No way! it's pretty much new, I don't think a regulator from Honda dealer would go out THAT soon... OH another thing to add, it's only the front driver's side, the other three windows works fine, so I don't think it'd be the switch, what I wanna know is if there's any way to repair the motor, cuz the rest of the piece is still in good shape.
